Starting solids early? by [email protected]
Hello - My 2nd baby will be 5 months old on 11/11. She was 9lbs at birth and now weighs about 17 pounds and is 26 inches. At her 4 month checkup my ped. said I could "try to wait until 6 months to start solids but she'd probably need to start earlier because physiologically she's like a 6 month...

Why Not? by Amy
The thread about solids got me thinking, if the doctor says to start her on solids at 4 months (as mine did), why not? Is the fact that she has gained very slowly (didn't regain birth weight until 4 weeks) a consideration? Choking? I guess I'm just wondering why I should resist trying cereal...

Unsupportive family by PFMom
How many people here are extended breastfeeders? I have a 19mo old. I just found out he has some decay on his back front teeth. The dentist says I don't need to stop nursing, just to keep his teeth clean. I talked to my sister and she yelled at me for still nursing. She said in her opinion...

Starting solids by CY
I thought I was going to wait until my DS was 6 mths before starting solids, but his recent behavior has started me thinking... Background: He's 5 mths old, weighs about 20lbs (birth weight was 8lb 3oz) and can sit with support. He can actually sit unsupported for about 10-15 seconds. He's...

nursing shirts? by oregonchick
Is it "essential" or very helpful to purchase tops that are specific to breastfeeding? I don't have any, and I was just thinking about how handy would it be to just lift up the shirt? Do you invest in "nursing" clothes or just adapt? Betsy

partial plugged duct? by Anne Rogers
is there such a thing? I've had a full area on my right boob for 48hrs now, but it's not getting worse, or better, there seems to be some milk coming out of that area, but it hasn't fully emptied. It's mildly sore, but not greatly. Any ideas? Anne

AFand sore nipples by al
AF returned last month and was accompanied by very sore nipples. It was almost as bad as nursing a newborn (pain wise...but there was no rawness). Poor little guy wasn't happy with the decreased output, which didn't help. It just made him want to nurse more frequently. And from the return of...

best place to buy nursing bras? by oregonchick
I am due in December and only have 2 really crappy nursing bras. I bought them from Motherhood maternity and find that the shoulder straps have stretched to the point that they slip off my shoulders and there is no more adjustability in them, they're as tight as they'll go. I am currently a 38D...

Hi my baby is 8 months old but was born 2 months early, when he was in the NICU I got really familiar with using a pump, but was able to switch exclusively to the breast. Just recently my baby has stopped gaining weight so I rented a hospital grade pump to try and see if it was due to my supply. i...
