How to wean a two year old...Please by
Sue theo b
I need some help. Katie is 2y 4 mo and still bfing to get to sleep (nights, nap
& sometimes in the morning.) I really need to get this kid weaned. She has
started waking up at night again. I'm too tired at 4am to deal with her so she
ends up in our bed for a snack and sleep. Then of course I'm not...

4 month WBV (long) by
Phoebe & Allyson
The Caterpillar is well. :)
She's 14 pounds, 12 ounces, up from 12 pounds, 4 ounces at 2
months. 2.5 pounds in 2 months doesn't sound like a big
gain to me, but it took her from 75th percentile up to 80th,
so I guess it was plenty. :) New ped weighs clothed and
diapered, versus old who weighed...

Medication & BF Question by
Kristine
I was prescribed "Lamictal" today by a neurologist because of an
abnormal EEG and "blackout" episodes I've been having for over a year
now (new doctor, I didn't like the old one I was seeing). Is this safe
to take and continue BF my 6 month old son? I really want to keep BF.
I've made my 6 month...

getting back to exclusive breastfeeding by
Anne Rogers
brief history:-
started off exclusively breastfeeding, there were some weight gain issues,
but we solved them, then when ds was 17 weeks I was admitted to hospital
due to postnatal depressions, after a week in hospital his weight had
dropped 3oz and I was feeling awful, we started to give formula,...

Belated introduction (a bit long) by
Judy King
I've introduced myself before and posted a few times lately but I thought a
more official hi was in order.
I am breastfeeding number two who was born last week on the seventh. He was
a big boy (10lb 2oz) but I had an easy birth and recovery has been a dream.
Breastfeeding has come very naturally...

woman in the park by
K.B.
For some reason I have been meeting alot of Moms my sons age who don't
breastfeed. I met this woman today who's son is the same age as mine, 5
months. I asked her if she breastfed and she said she couldn't be bothered.
She had no good reason other than she just didn't want to bother with it.
She...

A 6-hour feed? (long, sorry) by
Cheryl S.
I know it's normal for babies to feed continuously for a couple hours in
the evening. DD did that, usually from about 7:00 to 10:00 every
evening. I wouldn't have a problem with that. DS had been doing that,
but over the past few days it's been getting longer and longer -
starting earlier and...

Thank you so much for the Happy Birthday post. It didn't show up on my
regular server (I think I miss a whole lot of posts) but I found it on
Google. My little Isabella had a great birthday with a huge party (we have
a big extended family) and a trip to the beach.
Thanks again,
Amy

Am I weird because.... by
Kristine
My Grandmother makes me crazy. Some of her ideas on how I should be
raising my son truly scares me. I'm amazed that her kids turned out as
well as they did. Thank God my Mother is supportive and encouraging of
the choices I make in my parenting style.
Just a few of her gripes:

We just got home from DS's seven-month WBV (okay, his six-month visit, one
month late!). DS turned seven months this past Wednesday (10-8).
The stats: At birth he weighed 6 lbs 14 oz. and was 20 inches long. At 6
weeks, he was 10.2 lbs, 22.25". Ten weeks: 13 lbs, 23.25". Today:

nursing sessions question by
ted
Just another 'would like to know' type of question.
If the number of nursing sessions are decreased from several per day
to 2 per day (without pumping at other times), will the supply adjust
itself so that it will only cater to those 2 nursing sessions? Or will
the supply wear off and completely...

convince baby to take pacifier? by
zeldabee
My 5 week old son has times when he clearly wants to suck, but doesn't want
to eat, especially after a nursing session in the middle of the night. I'd
really like him to take a pacifier (the only way a finger works is at a
certain angle, and it can be uncomfortable for me after a short while),...

Breastfeeding and back to work by
Elaine
Ok, I'm 13ish weeks pregnant with my first, so I might just
be borrowing trouble here... I'm applying for (and have a
decent chance of getting) a full time job. Currently I work
part time, and our plan had been for me to essentially stop
working when the baby was born.
Taking this job would mean...

WHO recs? by
Herself
Okay, I just got back from a playgroup, and there's an LC there who I
think might be blowing smoke. A woman with a 4-month old was talking to
her about giving her son some solids now, cause he just started wanting
to nurse at night after sleeping through for a while. The LC said that
it was okay...
