4 year old, not appendicitis? then what is it? by Buzz
Friday evening my 4 year old began complaining of abdominal pain.. in the area of his belly button. At night he was up every hour moaning and whining from pain. My wife and figured some kind of stomache bug. He vomited once that night. But by maybe 4am he slept more soundly. I'm pretty sure he...

Query on single vaccine to alternative MMR in UK by John Dougrez-Lewis
Given the topicality of the recent reports by the BBC on MMR, I'm looking for some advice. Whenever I search the Web to look for alternatives to an MMR jab for my baby, all I come up with is a load of sites that appear to be trying to make a cynical quick buck out of parents fears. They typically...

Death by co-sleeping vs. death by car crash (2001 and 2002 data from the US) by Joshua Levy
Every now and then (usually when another study comes out showing that co-sleeping babies die at higher rates than crib-sleepers) Advocates of Co-Sleeping will sometimes say that it doesn't really matter, because the number of SIDS deaths is small, or the number of co-sleeping deaths is small, or...

Cleaning under toddler's nails by kalanamak
Pardon, I'm new at this. 2 year old, very active in dirt, gets it under his nails. If I trim back all the way, I hit skin every now and then, and I don't want to do this for obvious reasons. I've tried getting him to claw soap (he likes doing this) and scrubbing it out (he hates doing this). Not...

http://tinyurl.com/2po68 "If you can buy it at a clean, well-lighted store, if it's "all natural," it 's not going to do you serious harm, right? That's what many Americans assume about dietary supplements. But while most supplements are probably fairly benign, Consumer Reports has identified a...

hearing problem (flud in ears?) for 1yr old by [email protected]
My DS at about 9-10months started saying a few words (cat, mom, dad) and now he's back to babbling. He had an ear infection and we thought his hearing went away. We would make a loud noise behind him and he wouldn't respond. The doctor said to use a bell instead saying that people often...

Do kids learn abusive behaviors from parents? by Mike
I'm sure there's a better place to post this but I just can't find it right now. I'm looking for information about children who live with an emotionally and/or verbally abusive parent. What I'm specifically looking for is the affects that this kind of abuse can have on children. Do these children...
