birthday party favors by
Stephanie
I am plumb out of ideas. Last year we did little celophane bags with those
junk toys that you get at party stores. I don't have a lot of money. Anyone
have any nice ideas for about *gasp* 10 5yos?
Also, what are fun game ideas for this age?

home birth by
[email protected]
Hi,
It seems to me that women are having fewer home births now. I am
saddened by this and wonder why this is happening. Homebirth and
midwifery were resurected and fought for and protected for about the
last 25 years and we seem to be losing ground again. Of course, I
don't have studies or...

Goody bags revisited by
Sue
Okay, since we are on the subject of goody bags, my three girls went to a
birthday party yesterday and I thought I would report back on what was in
the goody bags.
A nice photo album (one of the small ones), pony tail holders, play-doh,
crayons, and candy. Doesn't sound cheap and junky to me....

Divorced Parents..... are we the devil? by
chickenfishies
Okay, so I have a question.... Does me being a divorced mom equate me
to the devil? No, I am not still a divorced mom... I was remarried a
couple of months ago... and no I did not marry another deadbeat. I
married an amazing, loving, caring man who loves my children like they
were his own while...

Pros & Cons of Daycare by
[email protected]
Hello,
I am the residential parent of a beautiful little girl who is 3 =BE
years old and quite social. She was born in December, so she will not
be attending kindergarten for two years. Currently, she is staying home
during the school days, with a babysitter, while her three other
siblings go to...

Homework over spring break (long) by
Laura Slesinger
My husband caught our daughter's teacher on the phone this morning just as The
Kid was about to hand her my note. Apparently the teacher had had no
expectation of The Kid turning her report on time, given the fact that we were
going to be out of the country, but she'd never said as much. I...

I'm ready to stop being the mom by
dragonlady
So we have this probable move hanging over our heads. It's been over 2
months since DH's interview, and it looks like it's going to happen, but
it's not signed and sealed yet. I'm not very good at this waiting thing
-- to say nothing of the fact that I'm not all THAT good at big moves.
(And I...

ABC news by

This makes me sick. Why people want to have children,
when their goal seems to be to get back to their "normal" lives as
quickly as possible, is completely (and thankfully) beyond me.

Heck, yes!
Is there any downside to it?
I can't think of any. It's superior nutrition, plus it's totally
convenient and economical. You might even enjoy it. It takes some

Question for parents of grownups by
dragonlady
Or, actually, for grownups who have parents, and remember how THEIR
parents handled this.
For those of you who have kids who are appropriately sexually active
(and if, for you, that means married -- well, then, kids who are
married), how do you handle the noise issue?
My daughter is old enough to...

Don't know how to "fix" my 5-year old kid by
Alvaradi
Hi, hope somebody can give me some advise. My kid is a good boy at heart,
likes to hug and kiss (and be hugged and kissed) and also cries a lot when
his 3-year old sister "gets" him. He likes to draw and paint, he also
likes video games a lot which we try to restrict. His mother stays with
them all...

Bad mommy or cultural difference? by

Or do I just have a weird 18 month old??? All this time I thought she
was perfectly normal.
Recently we were in MediaMarkt in Switzerland (kind of the equivalent
of Best Buy in the US), just after Christmas. Place is packed.
My 18 month old was going nuts. Not whining or crying, but she
couldn't...
