Advice/support needed by
Steve & Erin
Hello,
I have a very good friend who is due in November (as am I), who had
something called the "First Look" testing done a couple weeks ago. The u/s
looks for a skin flap in the back of the neck, and it detected nothing. The
blood work looks for blood protein levels, which came back low-...

November due dates by

How are you feeling this month, three-monthers? You're almost out of
the first trimester
(depending on how you count) -- still feeling sick and tired, or are you
starting to pick up? Do you look pregnant? Heard the heartbeat yet, or
still searching for a care provider who fits your needs? Is it...

Birth Announcement (extremely long) by
Auntie Bubbles
Sigh. I thought I would live my life out without ever having told a story
like this, and I also thought I was just fine with that...
I was never going to have children of my own. My DH had 4, and even though
they don't live with us, I get lots of love from them, and it's been
wonderful being part...

September due dates by

Halfway there! How's everyone doing? Making the switch into "wow, I
really look pregnant now" or have you been there for a while? Kicks and
tumbles? Dealing with the glucose test, a possible amnio, results from
the triple screen, ultrasounds? Happy with your birth plans, your care
providers,...

What you can see on an ultrasound by
Sophie
I had my fetal medicine specialist appointment yesterday. I was surprised
during the u/s when the tech said "wow, would you look at that, your baby
has a ton of hair". Sure enough on the back of the head was tons of white
fluffy stuff. Who knew you could see hair on an u/s?! Everyone...

Into the second half of pregnancy! So it's all swiftly downhill from
here, eh? :) How's everyone feeling? Is your body telling you to start
slowing down, taking it a little easier? How is sleeping going -- lots
of pillows stuck into every nook? Bellybutton flattening out yet, linea
nigra,...

Internal exam and bright red bleeding? by
Jill
I had an internal exam today (the midwife offered, but didn't push and was
ok not to do one but curiosity got the better of me, and so I requested it
and consented)....this exam did not hurt like the Group B strep and the last
attempt at an internal. I don't want to say that the last midwife...

How's everyone feeling this month? Is the morning sickness gone, the
tiredness starting to fade? Not too huge yet, but enough belly to run
your hands over with that sweet, wistful smile on your face when you
don't think anyone's noticing? :) How is sleeping, getting more
awkward? Started doing...

anterior placenta by
Mary S.
I suspect my placenta is anterior -- is ultrasound the only way to
really know? I felt movement with this baby a couple weeks later than
with my first, and it's much less movement, almost muffled-feeling. The
midwife has always found the heartbeat on the side of my belly, rather
than the front. ...

Okay, roll call time. All you gorgeously pregnant nine-monthers, are

Thoughts on immunization/vaccination? by
M Wayne
My husband and I have heard a lot of controversy regarding possible negative
side effects from the myriad of shots that babies are subject to here in the
U.S. We plan on talking to our pediatrician about this, just as soon as we
find one. Can anyone recommend any books or articles that might give...

cord blood by
Zen Cohen
I suspect this subject has been done to death and I've tried to educate
myself a bit on it before posting. At this point, I'm not sold on "banking"
it but like the idea of donating it if it doesn't pose any risk to mom and
baby. For those who considered and made a decision on banking or...

Help, is this a pregnancy side effect? by
Kim E.
For the last few days I have been having this symptom that I never had
before being pregnant, and I was wondering if it could be one of those
odd pregnancy side effects. I have this burning sensation deep in my
throat as though I am about to burp up something very acidic. I am not
nauseous at...

For those of you who don't know, I am a high school senior. Fear not, I have
been around here for almost 5 years and several people here can testify to
that! :) Anyways, I have chosen to write my research paper this year on the
differences between subsequent deliveries and the first delivery. I...

Thank you and conclusions. by
Kara H
First of all, thank you SO much to all of you who took the time to fill out
the survey about subsequent births for me. I knew I could count on the
mommies (and daddies) in MKP and AM. You are all FABULOUS.
Second, below are the basic conclusions that I drew from the surveys. I did
have to draw a...

We just got a crib for a discounted price. It was made in 2000 by
Generation 2. I'm having a hard time finding a mattress online for
it. We measured the dimensions and it is 38 inches X 23.5 inches.
That's including the entire length the mattress should fit including
gaps. Anyone have tips on...
