bad rash on breasts by
K.B.
I wrote a few days ago about this rash I have. The Dr. said it was poison
ivy but it's been almost 2 weeks. Now it has spread all over my body
including my breasts. It is so itchy. I called the Dr. on call yesterday and
she said it sounds like impetigo. If it is, it's probably very contagious....

Thumb sucking (poo mentioned) by
Shunaari
My son is 11 weeks old and has begun to suck his thumb. When I see
him, I move his hand away, but when I am not around he is sucking it
vigurously. Why is he doing it at such young age? I wanted to
introduce a pacifier, but will he accept it? Will sucking the
thumb/pacifier interfere with his...

Picnic in park was fine, very hot (29C, hot for here this time of year)
and sunny. New t-shirt saying "I'm one year old". Boxer cake worked
ok, but uploading to website not. will try to get some pics.
But....drumroll........
He took his **first unassisted steps** at the park (staggers,...

VENT: feeling burn out by
Sara
I love nursing. I love my baby. I love that I have this great
relationship with Ollie. I don't want him to wean anytime soon. OK,
that disclaimer out of the way...
I'M GOING ****ING NUTS TODAY. Ollie just won't eat or drink anything
other than breastmilk, straight from the tap. One jar of...

OT Silly Car Seat & Out & About Question by
Wendy J.
Hi,
Ok, we have just bought the Britax Marathon which we will start using
today if I can bug dh into installing it ;-)
My silly question is, what on earth do I do with dd say when we go out
for a meal? I am used to carrying her in the Graco car seat. Now I
have nothing to keep her in. Am I...

I really should not have read Babywise by
Anne Rogers
I shouldn't have bought/read What to Expect The First Year...
Same reasons. It's really down on attachment parenting and breastfeeding.
It actually says that you should start supplementing around 6 weeks so the
baby gets used to it, just in case....
the same friend had that on her shelf, I...

antibodies question by
Lisa Besko
So if bf babies get antibodies from Mom and mom had the chicken pox (or
some other virus) in the passed why doesn't that antibody get passed on
to the baby? Is it only currently active antibodies that work.
I guess I wish they would get them from Mom regardless of when she had
the virus and then...

My gallbladder is coming out by
Phoebe & Allyson
September 15th. I need to be there at 8, and if all goes
well, I'll be home by noon. If all goes unwell, I'll be in
the hospital 4 days, but my surgeon said he's only got a 2%
"convert to open procedure" rate. I'm meeting with the
anesthesiologist on the 10th to discuss drugs, since...

Anyone had two experiences the same? by
Andrea
When I went into labour with my first my waters broke before I went into
labour. I had a baby boy weighing 7lbs 9 and a half.
With my 5th baby labour started with my waters breaking, and I had another
baby boy 7lbs 9 and a half.
Out of 5 births these were the only two that started with my...

What quantity of EBM to leave ? by
Jolltax
Hi
Our DD is 6 weeks old now and we tried her with a bottle of ebm for the
first time today. I pumped 2 oz whilst feeding her from the other breast
(is this the best thing to do?) then later gave her the ebm before
breastfeeding. She took to it great.
If i ever want to leave DH with her, how...

Ultrasound for recurrent plugged ducts - anyone know of any studies? by
Cathy
Gee, here we go again. I have yet another plugged duct, in the same place
as the last 6. At least this time DD is keeping it under control, and I
managed to massage it a bit myself, and clear it - but not completely. So
now I am looking at the possibility of ultrasound. I read somewhere that...

Ow! Those gums are *hard* by
Phoebe & Allyson
Caterpillar has started clamping down when she's done
sucking, without regard to whether it's pinky or nipple in
her mouth. Pinky doesn't bother me, but slipping down and
chomping nipple is very unpleasant. The first time wasn't
very hard, and I just said "Ow" and took it away from her.
This time...

Vax questions by

So, we had Alena vaccinated today.
I didn't want to, but then my doctor mentioned that with CAS involved, I
may not want to push my luck. DH really wanted her vaccinated. So I caved.
I didn't like doing it, and now the monkey is just sleeping. I woke her up
after five hours to nurse, but she's not...

Baby with *no* growth spurts? by
Chotii
....or do I just have so much milk that this kiddo doesn't *have* to build up
my supply? I've waited and waited for her growth spurts to have her catch up
to my supply...at 2 weeks, I hoped, at 3 weeks I prayed, and now we're
almost at 6 weeks and there's not a sign of a nurse-every-hour growth...

Pumping and growth spurts by
Irrational Number
I'm worried about what happens when Pillbug hits
a growth spurt and I'm pumping. As I understand
it, he nurses lots and lots to get more milk, then
he gets more milk, then he sleeps to grow. Now,
if he drinks lots and lots of EBM in those first
couple of days that he's really only supposed to
be...
