Dont try this at home folks by Jen
For the first time since Ds was born we had Dh's sister and partner (although now ex, they seemed fine this morning?!)over for dinner last night. Starter: Naichchips (tortilla chips sprinkled with cheddar cheese and chipped chillies). Fine. I've been eating chillies throughout pregnancy and bf...

Shoulder Pain by Amy
I've been able to nurse my baby lying down for a while, now, and I'm having an interesting problem. I wake up every morning (and often during the night) with pretty severe shoulder pain. It generally goes away during the day, but comes back again in the night, although occasionally it also hurts...

"New Yorker's Diary" - interesting by Sue
I don't see a problem with her at all. She is an obviously intelligent woman (some things she doesn't know, because she hasn't been there yet) who is making her choice. Nothing wrong with it at all. Just because you don't agree with her choice doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to be a parent....

LAM questions by Emily
Hi folks, I'm planning on getting a Mirena in January (4 months pp), and am wondering if I can rely on LAM in the meantime. DS is exclusively bf --- the only other anything he's had is a few doses of tylenol (and some tylenol with codeine after a minor procedure to correct his clubfoot :-( ),...

"New Yorker's Diary" - interesting by KC
I think she is missing out by not trying it. I thought it might be bad at first, but it can turn out to be quite rewarding, and quite helpful at getting more not less sleep, but she will never know all that because she doesn't want to try it at all. KC

galactocele on nipple by Anne Rogers
don't really know what these are but I talked to a breastfeeding supporter about my persistent lump on my nipple and this was the only thing she suggested, I need to call and make a doctors appointment to let him have a look, but I wondered if anyone knew anything about them Anne

6 hours!!! by Jo
Last night Will went to bed at 6:30pm without his normal bedtime routine - he had skipped a nap and was very tired. He fell asleep being cuddled by dad with the dummy, and I was sent out to buy take away for dinner. I got home to see Will asleep on his playmat, and I thought, ok, we're going to...

THE CHRISTMAS SHOES by ANTHONY CHARLES TABONE
It was almost Christmas time, there I stood in another line Tryin' to buy that last gift or two, not really in the Christmas mood Standing right in front of me was a little boy waiting anxiously Pacing 'round like little boys do And in his hands he held a pair of shoes His clothes were worn and...

"New Yorker's Diary" - interesting by Emily
She's entitled to her opinion, of course, but what bothered me about this piece is how she managed to bring up all the strongest arguments for bf and (mostly through tone) dismiss them as irrelevant, or not important enough to her. She's certainly doing lip service to them all, but somehow in a...

*Nice* Nursing Bras by Amber
Hi, With the festive season upon us we've been invited to a lot of dinner parties and the like. I love to dress up for such things and have made an effort to buy some nice but loose fitting tops that I can wear with a nice skirt/trousers so that I can look 'dressed up' but still be able to breast...

Hi there My friend is due soon with her second baby. With her first she had a lot of problems breastfeeding. Her baby was 6 weeks early, she had a c-section (he was breach and after 7 hours of labour she was still 2cm), he was taken away straight away and spent time in neo-nates so she had to...

bizarre, funny thing is the 2 things I particularly noticed about her not wanted to breastfeed were not getting engorged and not leaking, erm, isn't that what happens if you don't breastfeed? Oh well, there are always going to be some cynics out there Anne

"New Yorker's Diary" - interesting by stasya
I'd agree with a lot of what she says, the first paragraph rings true with me, simply because I spend a lot of my pregnancy time daydreaming about my non-pregger clothes, and new clothes, and waiting for the day when I wean so that I can have 5 cups of coffee a day, have 3 or 4 (or more..ahem..)...
