working on moral character

My sister and I were discussing a man who came to speak at their church. He
spoke up how we as a family place such emphasis on their learning, sports,
success ,etc. and not enough on their values. Are we creating future men and
women who will want to succeed at all costs. Do we not work on moral and
ethical character enough. I can see the man's point. Any thoughts?

I don't know what "we" he was talking about but he certainly wasn't talking
about my family.
