Learning or activity centers useful for kids?

Hi,

In the context of a childcare center, are learning or activity centers
useful for kids? Is there any research in this area? Any information will be
appreciated.

Please reply to this newsgroup, as I can't receive email.

TIA

Well, what's the alternative? Learning centres are practical ways of grouping
materials/activities in a confined space, rather like the various rooms in a
house.
