Man threatens CPS worker, now behind bars

This guy supposedly threatened to kill his estranged wife,
her boyfriend and his seven kids, but apparently that was
less exciting than threatening the caseworker.

Man held in threats to CPS worker 34-year-old turns self in at county
jail

By Barbara Ramirez Caller-Times December 2, 2006
The wife of a man accused of threatening to shoot a Child Protective
Services caseworker in the head earlier this week said she will help in
the defense of her husband, who witnesses said also threatened her
life.

Christian Heltz turned himself in Friday morning after being indicted
on felony retaliation charges Thursday.

Investigators with the Nueces County Sheriff's Department say that
before a custody hearing on Monday, Heltz threatened to shoot the
female caseworker handling the case involving his seven children. He is
accused of walking into the lobby of the Juvenile Justice Center,
staring at the caseworker, threatening her life and leaving before the
hearing started, according to Capt. Paul Rivera.

The caseworker reported the incident to County Court-at-Law Judge Carl
Lewis, who requested an investigation, Rivera said. Several witnesses
heard the threat, Rivera said.

Other people interviewed in the course of the investigation said Heltz,
34, threatened to kill his children, his estranged wife and her
boyfriend, Rivera said.

"We're separated, but we're still on good terms," said Angelica Heltz,
who said she would help her husband get an attorney.

Heltz turned himself in Friday morning to authorities at the Juvenile
Justice Center, where a bailiff arrested him. Nueces County Sheriff's
officers took him into custody shortly after 10 a.m. Friday, Rivera
said.

Heltz remained in Nueces County Jail on a $50,000 bond Friday
afternoon. He faces two to 10 years in prison and a fine as much as
$10,000, said prosecutor Mark Skurka.

If it was less exciting why were both mentioned in the article?

They appeared to carry equal weight when you account for typical media

Isn't it odd when you this happens and it's not in favor of your bias?

You just don't seem to notice it at all, do you, Greg?

Like when someone kills a caseworker and you want to argue about
whether or not it was appropriate for the police officer to be quoted
as saying they had prior criminal records.

Ever notice your biases, Greg?

Dodging again, Greg?

What possible connection to killing caseworkers does that have?

Just don't want to admit you screwed the pooch again, I take it?

My take is a criminal record that would be related to working with
children would be an extreme rarity in caseworkers, or anyone involved
in child protection work.

All seem to have those crimchecks pretty routinely.

And arne't hired if they have a propensity for showering little girls
they aren't related to.

But you'd have to check to make sure.

Hey, if you really want to know, and you do of course, don't you, being
a crusader and all, why don't you apply for a job at CPS and have them
run you through crimcheck.

Tell us how you come out.

You could apply to be an aide. A child transporter position.

If they turn you down for your own past we'd like to know so we can
send scathing letters to them, and if they accept you you could make a
little salary and finally learn from the inside you've been lying your
ass off for years.

Wouldn't that be a jolly experiment, Greg?

You chicken to do it?

Think of the hash you could make of CPS getting the "inside" scoop, eh?
