Jen and Nick in Indy
Hello :) I just popped in here after months and months of neglect. I
only read the thread about splitting up in K, since it applied to me. I was so surprised to read you both live nearby. I'm in Noblesville and our girls are in the 3Day Pre-K at Heritage Christian. We are splitting them for 1/2 day K next year. Like you mentioned, Jen, our girls are eachother's best friends and biggest annoyances ;) They will defend to the end for their sister, while bugging her in the next breath! We've chosen to split due to having the option to choose 1/2 day over full. We thought this would be the best time to give it a trial run and easing them into school time apart vs. waiting until they are in all day school. On one hand, they are very independant socially. On the other hand, one daughter is highly competitive with her sister. They both are similar in their academic knowledge, but very different in how quickly they grasp academics. The one who is highly competitive learns at a normal rate. Her sister just inhales info. to her sister's dismay and frustration. So, we are hoping this will help her lose focus on where her sister is on the paper so to speak ;) That's our story. Good luck to you in your decision. At a glance, it seems like you should just make a decision and it's not like it's a big deal. But, clearly it *is* a big decision that is so dependant on the individuals. Go with your gut. No one will know better than you. In addition, I defy any principal or school admin who thinks they know what *your* twins need. A discussion of opinions would be helpful and welcomed, but a universal response would really have me question the school system's interest of the children. If either of you have any desire to meet up, email me privately. Of course, I understand if that's a little sketchy ;) Missy Rust in Indiana |
