Question about baby taking Antibiotic

I found a bit of what appears to be mucous in Morgan's diaper and in her
vaginal area.

Could the antibiotics have given her a yeast infection as they sometimes do
to us?

It's possible, but if she has a respiratory tract infection it could just be
mucus that she has swallowed.

Certainly could, but mucous isn't a symptom of yeast infections. The
discharge with yeast infections should be more white cottage-cheesy.
The skin of her vagina would also likely look somewhat angry-red.

(Of course now someone will post saying their experience was totally
different, but generally the above is true.)

Certainly they could, but mucous sounds less like yeast and more like
the GI upset that is also common with antibiotics (mucous is often the
only way to tell the difference between normal EBF poop and diarrhea).

Okay, I took her to after hours pediatric center and saw a wonderful doctor
from the same pediatric center that I normally take Morgan too. First of
all, I want to say that I met another mother in the waiting room who also
cannot 'stand' the doctor I took Morgan to last week who gave me such
erroneous information about breastfeeding. She too switched doctors after
her first meeting.

The doctor we saw today said that I should be commended for bf'ing for as
long as I have b/c this could be the single reason why Morgan has not had
ANY other ear infections. She said to make it 21 months and never have this
type (or any other major) illness was most probably due to bf'ing. She also
said that since I'm sick, my body is creating antibodies which will actually
help Morgan. So, she encouraged me to continue to do so.

Morgan is suffering from severe ear infections in both ears. She bumped us
up to a higher strength antibiotic and told me to continue to hydrate her
and not to worry so much about the limited eating.

So, we shall hope that this makes a difference. If not, she'll have to have
stronger antibiotics (which will cause her to have even more diarreah).

Thank you all for your advice!!

I bought my mother some Ensure in hopes that she would consume ANYTHING to
help get her strength up. She had to feel mighty bad to actually close her
business.

I'm so glad she did.

We can start fresh tomorrow. Also, this pushed her to FINALLY agree to
allow someone else to work in the mornings so she didn't have to work open
and then close.

Happy New Year!

And, IME, somewhat bumpy. Jessica's yeast rashes look neon red, bumpy and
everywhere like a diaper rash. Mucous doesn't sound like it.
