antifungal spray for diaper rash?
When Joshua got diaper rash, I put a little of that antifungal spray for
athlete's foot on my finger and touched it on his rash. It really worked. But is it safe? Has anybody else tried this, and are there reasons not to? Honey |

Honey we were just given an anti fungal cream for a yeast infection that my daughter was diagnosed with today (along with a bladder infection) I dont imagine it would hurt anything. Our ped told me to use it on both of my daughters when they got a yeast rash. I looked at the ingredients and they are *exactly* the same as the 3 day medicine used for a woman's yeast infection. I've used it on 2 daughters. -- ** Sharon mom to 5 " |

Honey If you're not comfortable using that, there is a great line of products someone on MKB told me about when I thought Lily had a yeast rash as a very young newborn. It's called California Baby. You can get it online, not sure which *real* stores carry it. Their products have tea tree oil and some other ingredient that are natural antifungals and safe for babies. I ended up buying a lot more stuff from them and I've always been happy. And no, I don't work for the company! Just really like their products. www.californiababy.com - Jen |

DS had a diaper rash and after trying every brand of diaper rash cream
on the market we called his pediatrician and she recommended Lotrimin AF, which is an anti-fungal ointment. It really worked so I don't see why a spray would hurt anything. Wendy |

Direct application is the fastest way I know to a tea tree allergy. (got one myself...) Jenrose |

Jenrose Interesting your the first person I've met with an allergy to that, it must be awful going through life allergic to so many things, I was reading your food thread, poor you that must suck. I couldn't survive without my tea tree oil in my first aid kit (that and Lavender), it's my first aid for all bites and stings, good for hubby's stinky feet after being in work boots all day lol, I use it as an antiseptic on cuts, I put it in the rinse of my nappies, I've used it on mouth ulcers, gammy fingers on babies, all sorts, it's a wonder oil. And I rarely dilute it on me, unless it's being used in a soak, on my kids I often use a carrier, except on yeasty bums, but if you have lots of allergies then it would be wise to dilute it, and test patch it first. Jenrose Interesting your the first person I've met with an allergy to that, I'm not allergic to it, but both myself and Shrimp are sensitive to it. We both came out with a really bad itchy rash after I used some sorbolene cream with 10% tea tree oil. But then he seems to have quite sensitive skin anyway and Thud seems to have developed sensitive skin. -- Cheryl Mum to Shrimp (11 Mar 99), Thud (4 Oct 00) Mischief (30 Jul 02) + someone new due Feb 05 |

Actually, that's how I react to strawberry leaves too (and I'm deathly allergic to strawberries) so I just avoid the stuff like the plague now. I was not always allergic to it--it took me a couple years to start having a rash in response to it. Before that I *loved* tea tree oil for everything. I just wish I'd used it a little less often so maybe I wouldn't be sensitive now. Best think in the whole world for a sun burn. Jenrose |
