FLORIDA CHILDREN'S DEFENSE LEAGUE PRESS RELEASE

The Florida Children’s Defense League will hold its first Jacksonville
Forum-Meeting on June 12, 7:30 P.M. at The Mandarin Ramada Inn, San Jose and
I-295.

The Florida Children’s Defense League is a nonprofit , Jacksonville-based
organization dedicated to preventing child abuse in Florida. The league is
mobilizing public opinion, voters, and community resources to bring about
fundamental changes in the troubled Department of Children and Family Services.
According to Frank Bennett, The Executive Director of The Florida Children’s
Defense League,

“The Department is responsible for an escalating number of atrocities against
Florida’s children. Our public opinion surveys indicate there is widespread
public alarm about the Department and its disregard for Florida’s
children.�

“Children are simply being lost in the system and then being found in the
morgue.�

“One reason for the Departments dismal track record is its failure to
routinely enforce Florida Statute Title V, Section 39.205, Paragraph 6 which
mandates a third degree felony for anyone knowingly making false allegations of
child abuse.
