Thoughts and prayers please.....

Hello, last night Jimmy was taken to the hospital , he was having difficulty
breathing. He is still there, he was being taken for an x-ray and passed out.
So far what we have heard is that he has some sort of rupture in his lung
created by his asthma? Supposed to be common , but darned if *I* have ever
heard of this ? Anybody else? Thanks Bev

I remember this happening to a boy about the same age when I was in
highschool. Same sort of thing exactly, he too had asthma and his lung
collapsed. Thankfully, he recovered quite quickly, I hope that it will be
the same for Jimmy.

He does have asthma right? I don't wanna sound retarded to you or smart
alek OR ANYHTING like that because I have an acute case of asthma from
being anemic. I have never heard of anything like this happening though.
I'm sorry for you. I will send out a special prayer for all of you.
Hopefully he'll feel better in God's graces. Please be strong.

This is sounding worse now, he was gonna come home today but the doctors told
his parents that the heart monitor indicates he has had a heart attack ? He is
16 ! They are having a heart specialist see him.
He had been looking pale and tired for a few days but he didn't have any
discomfort until Sunday . We just thought he was over tired from working and
going to school and taking care of the baby. I hope he feels better soon too.

Hey there. I don't know much about collapsed lungs, except that they
heal up fine most times, but I'll be thinking of you. Good luck.

yes he has had asthma as long as we have known him , although I never witnessed
him having any attacks.

Unfournately it is quite common several people die each year because it
comes on suddenly and nothing can be done luckily they caught his in
time. I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Yeah, I have been reading up on this , He was let out last night . He is still
quite out of breath, he said he was given some steroids among other meds to
heal the rupture which is now like a scab they told him. He needs to stop
smoking. He has asthma and he smokes? Fortunately he did not have a heart
attack ! Apparently he does have a prolapse heart valve( flutters) ? have some
more reading to do on that . We are concerned because we have just learned his
older brother has this with his heart as well, and we are wondering if this is
something the baby may inherit? The asthma I believe may be hereditary? I need
to research this stuff. Thanks for responding.

A prolapse valve is more simply put.....a heart murmer. I have one too,
it's not a biggie except that it's important to make this know when having
dental work or invasive procedures done. When the valve prolapses, the top
of the valve is kinda floppy so there is a possibility of infection if
bacteria finds it's way there. So when I go to the dentist, I take
antibiotics. That's all. Well, cept for the dance that it does during
periods of anxiety. That sucks, but that's my thing.
