Default Push presents...?

On the other hand, my husband shocked me by coming up with absolutely
nothing after our son was born. I had kind of expected something. I mean,
my dad got my mom stuff when the kids were born; my friends' husbands have
gotten them things... eventually IIRC my mom asked my husband when/if he
was getting me something (she's pushy that way) and he was like "huh? uh,
isn't the baby gift enough?" It's a cultural thing

It must not be that common around here- it sure isn't in my family and
"circle" of friends and coworkers...I don't really know of anyone who did
get an extravagant gift at the birth of ther baby. I think the best thing to
do if you do want one, is just to mention it to your husband or the father
etc. Just mention that you would like something special to remember the
occasion by.

I am going to discuss with my husband what we can get to remember the
occasion by, but what I have in mind is something purely to keep that is
baby related or engraved, and not just a diamond bracelet or something,
since I get nice jewelry at all holidays anyway. I also want to get
something for my husband as well. I need ideas! Just any jewelry is too
generic for what I am wanting, I want something like a mother's piece of
jewelry, engraved and with the baby's birthstone, or something engraved for
my husband to celebrate his being a father etc. It doesn't even have to be
jewelry I just don't have any good ideas....I want it to be a
forever-keepsake so would like for it to be a little nicer than just a
little curio, and to have lots of sentimental value.

I am not too worried about it though, and also, I am fixing up a lot of
keepsakes anyway, such as a "birth time capsule" and memory books anyway.
