How do Lobsters get in and out of the Lobster cages? They have bars
around all sides of them.
Ah, it's quite simple, really. Long ago, these native Gielinor
lobsters were an ancient ancestor
to the modern day Slimey and
Cave Eels. They were known as "Ostres Eels" and were unique from their
cousins, for they
fashioned a tougher, orange tinted skin than the other breeds of eel.
Still, they had the same
slender bodies that could easily slid through bars. Over time,
however, pollution filled the
waters of RuneScape, and these Ostres Eels suffered a lose of family
members. Then, as an
attempt to survive, they conjured up a plan: They must protect
themselves against the harmful
pollutants that traveled their way. Soon after, they asked Guthix, the
creator of Gielinor, to
give them some sort of protection to save these Ostres Eels. Currently
busy in a God War, Guthix
didn't take much notice to the situation at hand. Instead, he gave the
Ostres Eels a different
form of protection--claws. As
this occured, the Ostres Eels developed to look much like the lobsters
(in real life). Players
often confused them due to their unawareness of this change. Not long
after, Jagex accepted what
had happened, and officially changed the Ostres Eels' name to
"Lobsters". Yet, these "lobsters"
that you commonly see are indeed still Ostres Eels, just in a
different form. However, after
Guthix realized her mistake, she allowed these creatures to
temporarily transform themselves
back into their eel-like features. Therefore, whenever a "lobster"
senses the bait within a
lobster pot, they quickly change their shape back into their original
slimey eel form, and
wiggle through the cage as the player instantly pulls the cage out of
the water.
