Have any of you faced a teacher, preschool or otherwise that dressed
inappropriately? Recently, I experienced a situation with "teachers"
(they were actually college students doing a summer intern-job) that
wore low ride, cotton, white, mini skirts, with no slips (do people
still wear slips?). One has a tongue stud. Both wore shirts with their
belly buttons exposed.
It is a delicate situation in that I am related to the owner. I did
say something to the owner, but then let the subject die.
I can say that husband is eager to drive my daughters to the school!

In a previous preschool, the teachers had tattoos, but they covered
them up. I have a tattoo as well, but if I was in a professional
situation, I would cover it up.

Yep. Several of my DD's full-time afterschool teachers dress like this.
These are not interns, but college-educated women in their first
full-time teaching position.

My DD's all-time favorite afterschool teacher has a tattoo and belly
peircing. She dresses to show them off, with ultra low rider jeans. My
girls are not preschoolers; they are preteens who are at the age where
they are influenced by the role models around them.

At first, it did bug me, especially since my DD's worship the ground
this woman walks on. But, then I got to know this teacher, and I could
see why the worshipped her. Despite her dress, she is a fantastic
teacher and all around wonderful human being. A really neat person with
solid values that I approve of, and I am happy to have her around my
kids and influencing them. I just don't approve of the way she dresses!
But, I'm not about to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

The girls asked me about the tattoo and belly button peircing, and so I
used it as a teaching occasion to impart my own wisdom and viewpoint.
We've talked about it a lot over the years, specifically how you
*cannot* and *should not* judge a person by the clothes they wear!!

We've also talked a lot about how fashion is fun, but fashion should be
removable, because fashion changes quickly and that's the whole idea.
So go ahead and dye your hair, perhaps, but think really hard before
you make a permanent fashion change like a tattoo or a body peircing.
