Are you positive that it is black mold? Or is it mold that is black?
There is a difference. It may just be surface mold and bleach water will
take care of it. I would not be ripping out walls until you know for sure
what you are dealing with.

I don't know. We need to call the mold specialists. It is a black
colored mold that looks pretty ingrained in the wood. It would be great
if we could take care of it with bleach. Thanks for the info.

There's a solution thing for cleaning that my aunt says the hospital uses
that says right on the bottle that it's good for killing black mold. Off
hand and for the life of me, I can't remember what it's called...
My ex was taking out some old carpet from my basement and said he came
across what he was sure was black mold after that carpet got all destroyed
thanks to the leaking basement. I don't know if it was black mold or what,
and I'm not even sure if HE was sure or not...
I do know that both he and I were in the basement only and the kids did not
step foot in the basement. Within a couple days he had called me and
sounded horrible. He said he was sure that it was because of the mold in my
basement - the very next day I came down with the same thing that he sounded
like he had - very stuffy, sore nose, throat, coughing that hurt and was
like a dry, raspy cough, etc. None of my kids had these issues that my ex
had or I had - and the kids live full time with me and only see him on
occasion, usually once a week, so they didn't "catch" anything from me (or
him)
I would maybe call and see if someone who knows their mold could help and
offer up some advice. After how I felt from being in that basement, I can
say it was definitely NOT fun to have a very sore throat and very sore nose!
