Default Baby coughing at night

I googled for this question and found a few answers from 97 and
previously, so I thought maybe I'd ask it again.

Our 18month old daughter was just really sick for about 2 weeks with
what ended up as bronchitis. But that's suppose to be over and done
with, had her time on amoxicillin, now she's fresh as a daisy.

Except this week she's started coughing herself awake at night. No
daytime symptoms, no running nose or anything. And the coughing
sounds more like a scratchy throat sort of thing than chest
congestion, if that makes sense. We've got a warm humidifier going,
she sleeps elevated on a pillow, and we give her a shot of cough
medicine before bed. But still she wakes up several times in the
night really really uncomfortable, thrashy herself all around like
she's just having a heck of a time. A few minutes upright on
somebody's shoulder and she's back asleep. If we're lucky that'll be
the last round for the night, but if we're not, she'll be up again in
half an hour.

While googling tonight I saw the recommendation to get the stuffed
animals away from her until they've had a good de-dusting (such as via
a tumble in the dryer), so I took all her stuffed animals out of the
crib tonight, we'll see how that does.

Any other tips? Is this likely related to the illness she just got
over, or just coincidentally timed? My wife wants us to call the
doctor, which after a week of this we're probably going to do anyway.
I just predict that they're not gonna have anything useful to say --
probably to try a bunch of stuff we've already tried.

Thanks!

Duane
