I've never heard of infant acne causing scabs.

It does if you have a baby that likes to scratch the spots... ask me
how I know this! It isn't cradle cap - his scalp is clear, and anyway
he had a touch of cradle cap when he was born and it looks totally
different. The scabs appeared on his cheeks and chin when he took the
top off some of the spots. They heal up again very quickly, though, and
fade away.
