When I had my first child I had him within half an hour of getting to
hospital. Nobody told me to hold back on the pushing. It worked a treat!

I pushed as I felt like it and DD was born within 15 minutes of arriving
at
the hospital. I had looked at the clock.

With #1 I pushed when the nurse told me to because I didn't know any
better. I did not feel an urge to push. 3hrs and 45min later he was
finally born. I couldn't sit down for two weeks and was miserable much
longer. That might be the point

I waited until the others were nearly crowning. That is most definitely
the way to go!


With #1 I was pushing from when I was told to for about 2 hours, and was in
a lot of pain afterwards-and stitches. With #2 I pushed for more like 15
minutes, from when I was told to, and could have happily played tennis
within a couple of hours later. It's called a second birth.
