Default OT ish - Infant and mouse invasion

When I was a kid we used mouse poison in our house once. The buggers
had a habit of crawling under the built-in dishwasher to perish. You
got to know that dead mouse smell in the kitchen after awhile, blech. I
prefer the cat solution! I think my house might have had mice before
we moved in, but not a sign of 'em since we got here with the cat.

We had a couple of cats but I think they must have been stuffed, lol. They
did a pretty good job but they (the mice) got in the walls and attic. It
was just horrible.

I don't recall a terrible smell although I'm sure there must have been one.
It was fall so I had the windows open etc. We were more on top of spraying
the foundation and kept the poison in the crawl space, attic, and walls so
we didn't have any trouble after that. I'm guessing they were probably
still down in the unfinished basement area because dh had so many boxes of
crap down there but they didn't invade my area.

That was an old house out in the country surrounded by fields. Hard to keep
mice away. We used to have a bunch of barn cats but that year we didn't so
that probably made a difference too. We also had more snakes (not in the
house!) after the cats were gone. Cats are good.

That was not my favorite part of living in the country that is for sure!

We've used poison before in this house and our last house (old house,
impossible to keep them out completely) and never had trouble with them
dying in the walls. But now we have a cat - I've seen some mouse
droppings but no mouse, so I'm not sure our cat is doing much, but I
don't want to put out poison now because I don't want out cat to get
sick.

I know the cat *can* catch mice, she's caught a squirrel(!), but she may
be lazy now.
