Default Baby spits up blood after breast feeding

Lek wrote and I snipped::
Yesterday my baby spat up some blood shortly after breastfeeding. I
immediately told my husband and we called the doctor. The baby seams fine
and the doctor told us that it could be related to cracked nipples. Mine
are cracked and sore. If the baby spits up after bottle feeding, there is
no blood.

Tonight the baby is spitting up blood again after breastfeeding and we
called the doctor again and will be bringing the baby to the doctor first
thing in the morning. I can't help but feel terribly frightened by this
experience.

The baby is now 3 months old and looks and acts like a healthy 3 month old
should.

I can imagine how unsettling this is, but don't be frightened. It
sounds like it's blood from your nipples that is irritating your baby's
stomach. If you swallowed blood (like when you have a bloody nose),
you might throw up, too. But it's not going to hurt your baby.

What you need to do is get some help with your baby's latch. Your
nipples should not be cracked and bleeding, especially not 3 months
out. Maybe some of the videos on this page will help you see how to
get a good latch:

Don't make this into a reason to stop breastfeeding. You can get
through this.
