They are siblings, not boyfriend and girlfriend. Why would they "have
to be split up"? I really don't get it.

My 3yo boy/girl twins generally sleep in separate rooms now, but we do
hope to have them back in the same room in the future. (Not really due
to lack of space, just because we think it would be more comfortable for
everyone.) It never would have occurred to me that whether they are in
the same room or different rooms has anything to do with their gender.
