It has always worked to produce adults who are,
variously, timid or aggressive, neurotic, violent,
resentful of authority or unnaturally fearful of
authority, and prone to inflict abuse on their own
offspring.

Subjecting a child to violence of any kind is always
wrong, always counter-productive, always harmful.

It is perpetrated only by incompetents, cowards and
perverts.
