Default 18 month old Vocabulary

Hi, my twins were bilingual and we expected that they would be pretty slow
in speaking b/c of this and their being twins. They were speaking in full
sentences by 16 months. OTOH, my singleton, Matan was evaluated at 20
months and has now started speech therapy. At 18 months he said "ema" and
"abba" (Hebrew for mama and daddy) but that's it, he also didn't point or
gesture. I guess there's supposed to be a big explosion of words between
18-24 months, and we didn't see that even beginning at 20 months, so we

took
him for evaluation. He's "moderately to severely" delayed in both
expressive and receptive speech. Anyway, the pediatrician kept suggesting
that we wait another couple of months for him, but my gut feeling was just
that something was not right so I went ahead and had him checked. So far
we've only had 4 sessions but he's starting to point, use some simple

signs,
say a few words, and this morning the biggie: "NO!" We were so proud.

OK,
I'm not sure how this little story will help you, I just wanted to share.
We're hoping he'll continue to improve. By the way, Happy Easter to all

of
you who celebrate!

Chag sameach!
