Default Your child with HAIR LOSS, how can you help?

Please, keep all information open to his and encourage him to research
on own about hair loss. This way he will discover that he is not the
only one with Alopecia Areata. There are also several good links at
http://www.nuhair.net and http://www.iwanthair.com

If there is itchiness, dry scalp, or dandruff, check with your
dermatologist for an anti-dandruff treatment & itchiness. (Other
doctors to consult could be Internal Medicine MD, Oncologist or OBG
for hormonal imbalance check).

Q. Are there any "hair re-growth" products that will truly grow my own
hair back?

A. Today on the market, there are hair growth treatments or hair
re-growth products that claim results but are very limited in
actuality of any significant hair growth that will make any difference
to you.

The prescription drug finasteride, brand name Propecia, was originally
a prostate treatment. It is now used to treat male pattern hair loss
but with very limited success re-growing hair. Research has shown
that it only grows hair in younger men and only as very fine and very
thin peach fuss hair. It may stops hair loss for some. Upon stopping
the use of Propecia drug, any re-growth is also stopped. Within 6 to
12 months, any re-growth hair will be gone too. Side effects are a
decrease sex drive, impotent and potential birth defects.

Another drug, Rogaine with Minoxidil as the active ingredient, is now
available over the counter as hair loss treatment. Minoxidil was
originally used to treat high blood pressure. It has shown limited
success of hair growth in less than 10 percent of users. Minoxidil
works better for those who are younger or whose hair loss is recent,
according to Pharmacia and Upjohn companies. Treatments call for
Minoxidil to be applied twice a day or any re-grown hair will fall
out. Known side effects include itchy scalp, although there are
unknown possible complications of long-term usage of the drug.

If you are using any medication prescribed by a doctor and you see no
improvement of your hair loss after a month or two than go back to
your doctor.

The best solution for you is a good custom hair replacement or a
custom wig. Today they are attached using medical glue that can stay
on the scalp for 4 to 6 weeks. Maintenance cost should be looked upon
as hair styling expense.

TRANSITIONS GROUP centers worldwide are offering FREE SENSI-GRAFT hair
replacement units to children in need. Few restrictions apply.

You may want to check a Transition center closest to you for a FREE
consultation at http://www.iwanthair.com.

Hope that I have been of help to you
