One has to wonder though, is the choice of boyfriend or stepfather a
reflection of the company mom wants to associate with?

Certainly there must be indications that the male friend is hostile toward
the children and may do them harm. We must also remember that many moms
have given up their children in order to be with a new found male friend.

My daughter used to hang out with a bunch of kids who lived on the
streets. When I heard their stories, it amazed me how many of them were
this sort of "throw aways" (as opposed to "run aways"). The most
distressing were those girls who had to leave when their mothers' caught
them "cheating on them" with the mom's new male friend . . .
