FLEETBOSTON CELEBRITY SERIES TO PARTNER WITH DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION COMMITTEE TO SELECT YOUNG PERFORMERS FROM MASSACHUSETTS FOR DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION (Boston) FleetBoston Celebrity Series, Martha H. Jones, President and Executive Director, announced today it has been chosen to assist the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC) in selecting young performers ages 5 to 18 from around Massachusetts to perform on the FleetCenter stage at the Democratic National Convention July 26-29, 2004. "We are thrilled to be a part of highlighting the tremendously talented young performers of Massachusetts," said Martha H. Jones, President and Executive Director of the Celebrity Series. "As a performing arts presenter and arts educator, spreading the word about the spirit and culture of our great state is a core value for the Celebrity Series." The theme of "Student Performances at the DNC" is the celebration of the spirit, diversity and culture of Massachusetts. All student music, dance and theater groups from Massachusetts are eligible to apply. Those wishing to apply to perform are requested to download a letter and an application [.pdf file] at http://www.celebrityseries.org/dnc.htm and mail it with a 3-4 minute videotape, audiotape or CD to: FleetBoston Celebrity Series Att: Student Performance at the DNC 20 Park Plaza, Suite 1032 Boston, MA 02116 Applications and tapes are due by June 17. Submitted tapes will not be returned. A committee assembled by FleetBoston Celebrity Series will select the performing groups. Participants are encouraged to visit http://www.celebrityseries.org/dnc.htm for more information and updates. Selections will be announced on the week of June 21, 2004. All decisions as to winners are in the sole discretion of FleetBoston Celebrity Series and the DNCC and will be final and not appealable.
