Default I would like some advice...anything to help

To start off i'm a single parent of a 2yr old. Her father has never wanted
to be around until i took him to court for child support. Now, he just got
married and she wants my daughter around alot. Yet the only reason her
father wants her around is b/c of his wife. Both of them don't have a job
and live with her parents. So, he's not paying child support. He now want
to have some custody of my daughter and he has never been there for her.
Him and his wife are bad influences on my daughter like: they cut there
wrists, drink a lot, smoke, Probably do other drugs, and don't have any
sense of responsibility at all. I'm scared to leave my daughter alone with
them and don't think she needs to be around that. I am trying to find out
if there's any way that i can get sole custody with no vistitation rights
or only supervised visitation. so, any information you could offer would
be very helpful and appreciated.

Yes. Try to keep his time with your child to a minimum. In fact, if you can
eliminate him having ANY time with her all the better; because, as you
already know, the more you can keep your daughter fatherless the more FREE
MONEY you can get! And the more money you can get, the better.
So............................ you go girl!

Do you have any proof of the allegations you are making? Or are you just
going on hearsay? The other possibility is that you might be afraid that
the dad might be able to get custody away from you now that he is married
and his wife doesn't work and can be a stay-at-home mom to the child.
Pretty scary, isn't it?

Don't you believe that your child needs a relationship with her father? You
wouldn't deprive *her* because of his foolishness in not wanting to be a
father for 2 years, would you? That was HIS mistake--not hers. Don't make
her suffer for it.

The only way I can think of for you to totally cut him off from his child is
to encourage him to renounce all parental rights, and you never contact him
again--including for any sort of child support. Are you willing to give up
child support in return for his absence from your daughter's life?

His new wife is encouraging him to be a good father to a child from a
previous relationship. What is the problem with that? You can get sole
custody but you cannot block visitation.

In fact, if you want child support the best way to get it paid on time and
on schedule is to encourage regular visitation.

Getting a father is renounce all parental rights can be very cruel to
the child. It may be OK if the mother can form a stable relationship
with a new man who can become the childs surrogate father. This can
sometimes work very well.

But if the mother can't form that relationship, the child will
continually search for her real father. The need for a father will get
stronger as the years pass untill she eventually reaches her teen
years when she will try to turn the world upside down to be a part of
her fathers life. Believe me, I've been there.

I agree with you. I think every child deserves a mother and a father. My
question for this lady is about what she is willing to give up to get what
she says she wants. Is she willing to give up the $$$ to keep dad away? Is
she willing to deprive her daughter of a father? Hopefully, she will think
about these things before she makes any further moves.
