Default Fear of father?

My 20 month old daughter is acting strangely lately. When DH goes in
after she wakes, she cries and cries. She only cheers up when I come
in the room. She also acts afraid of him sometimes just when we're
doing our normal stuff, like hanging out in the living room. She runs
to me crying like she does when she's afraid. She won't go up in his
arms as much, and hugs and kisses are rare. When he comes downstairs
in the mornings she gets really excited to see him and says "hiieee,"
the same thing when we pick him up from work. As far as we know he
hasn't done anything out of the ordinary, we have no idea what could've
sparked this.

Any ideas or similar experiences??

Thanks,
KR

My daughter, at about that same age, just decided she hated and was
terrified of baths. One day she happily splashed in the tub for hours,
and the next day she started screaming hysterically in the tub. She's
never been bathed by anyone other than her father or I, so we know that
nothing remarkable happened to cause her to be frightened. It was
incredibly creepy, though. It went on for a couple of months, and
suddenly she went back to happily playing in the tub for hours. It's not
an exact copy of your situation, but if you're fairly certain that nothing
has triggered her fears, then maybe just chalk it up to the age? Toddlers
can be very strange creatures.

You're not supposed to shake your baby.

When my daughter was about that age, she would routinely cry
when DH came home from work. He'd walk in the door, squat
down for a hug, and she'd burst into wailing tears. Heartbreaking
for him. She did eventually outgrow it.
