Default Very odd question

It occured to me this evening that I want to write a Living Will. It sounds
silly but I have a shockingly bad headache with nausea and I always gets
scared that I will get hospitalized and my daughter won't be able to get to
me. It's just a headache, but sometimes I panic!!

Anyway, I wondered if it's possible to nurse while you are comatose, or
otherwise "out of it". I mean a) do hospitals even allow that kind of thing
but the thing I wonder about is that does the body still do what it's
supposed to do if you are in a coma??

Just my Monday night rambling brain on it's trek here. Sorry for the
interuption, folks. Now back to regularly scheduled programming!

Before you worry about nursing while you are in a coma.....

Along with a "living will"...
Do you have an updated plain old will that makes sure your child will
be cared for properly - not just leaving money to your child but
naming guardians as well as trustees?
Do you have powers of attorney for yourself for financial and personal
care decisions if you ever become incapacitated?
Have you updated the beneficiary line for all your policies, pensions
and any other benefits payable on your death to make sure whatever
you have goes to helping to raise your child?
Do you have a good list of where your important papers are, assets,
policies and accounts, keys and boxes are etc. so someone can find
things in the event you are incapacitated?

Its amazing how many people with kids stay up late worrying about
whacky stuff, but don't have the basic legal stuff in place to protect
those kids.

yes, it is possible. some hospitals/nurses may balk but it should be
considered the same as caring for any other functionof your body.
Mothers have had their breasts pumped, or had their baby brought to
them. If they don't nurse or have the milk removed, they risk
engorgement, mastitis, depression (yes, it's true. cold turkey
weaning can be correllated with depression), as well as a prematurely
weaned, and traumatised baby. sometimes the staff won't do it because
they dont' consider it a priority, but family members can do it or
insist on support and having it done.

Thank you! MY DD is 2 so premature weaning wouldn't be as much of a concern
but I appreciate your input. Also, I love your Advantages of Formula
website - I send it to people all the time!!

maybe I was sensitive since just the other day a woman in Target asked
me what kidn of sippy cup to buy for her 7 mo old. I explained that
most could cause premature weaning or a nursing strike so I just used
cups and she told me that her son had "weaned" a month prior. I asked
if he had a lot of bottles- yes, since 2 weeks old, but had never
caused a problem. Yikes. I explained that her son was on a "nursing
strike" and refusing the breast before age 1 was a nursing strike or
"premature weaning". I couldn't help myself- I found myself unwilling
to let that myth lie. :-)

I'm glad you like my site. My dh and a friend both have promised to
help me figure out how to get the updated version to teh server, yet
both seem very busy lately. I really want to get it updated.

thanks. It's really more to do with locating the editing tools and
how to upload to the server. If you lived in Boulder, you could come
by and help. :-)
