One to Zero naps?

Going from a two hour nap to nothing seems a bit drastic, so was it phased in, with shorter naps leading up to it, maybe? Did nighttime sleep hours change? I'm wondering what to look forward to. And, did your child stop napping altogether, or was it and off and on thing? I ask that in part because we have a "ritual" of sorts even for naptime, without which a nap might not occur. I'm wondering if we'll have to ritual sometimes, not others, or how it'll work. My first went cold turkey at 4 due to a change in schedule. He started going to bed earlier at night at the same time. My second had his naptime coincide with our pickup time for his brother's school, so lost his formal nap at about 2.5, but often fell asleep in the car and had a shortish nap most days. He probably didn't stop doing that until about 4.5yo or so. My 2.5yo still naps, though his nap will necessarly go from 3+ to 2 hours in the fall, again due to scheduling conflicts. --Robyn |
