V,

My first dd is/was cute like that. People would come running up to us
to tell us how cute she was. Even at 3, when I had a newborn with us
people would still tell me how cute the 3 year old was. She also was
combifed due to nursing problems and ended up on 100% formula at 5.5
months, so I understand. Bf can be very hard.

So you know what it's like! My 14 yo sister and all of her friends
keep hounding me to try to get DD in a diaper commercial, LOL. DH sees
babies on packaging like DD's rice cereal and gets all huffy like,
"Our baby is cuter than that! What's that less cute baby doing on
millions of boxes of cereal?!"

It's a bit hard right now during flu season because people want to
touch her and get all up in her face. I feel bad, but I have to say
basically, "I don't want you to take this personally, but please don't
touch my baby."

I spent the day with DD today at two different places doing sling
workshops with a friend of mine. Considering what a diva she can be
sometimes, she was an excellent "demo baby." First we were at a
wonderful place here in NYC called Upper Breast Side where -- as far
as I could tell -- all of the moms who showed up were bf and planning
to let their babies self-wean. That did my heart good.

Then we went to Mama Nurture. This workshop was shorter and nobody was
bf or trying on nursing bras the way they were at UBS, so I couldn't
really get a feel for how many were bf.

So now my mission is to nurse my next baby for as long as possible,
and set a good example for DD for when she has a baby.

-V.
