I've never had a problem breastfeeding my kids all the way to about 28
months. I may have needed advice or suggestions on some things, but for the
most part it has been easy as pie, and I've enjoyed it. Is it just me??

Nope. I've had mastitis twice and the odd problem here and there
(_when_ will I sleep?), but nothing severe. No problems with latch, I
can eat whatever I want, I enjoy it, it was a highpoint of my day when
I had postpartum depression, etc.

No, it's not just you, but people who are having problems are the ones
who are going to write most of the posts here. I had no problems when
bf DD for 14 months, aside from the initial learning-curve and sore
nipples. Now I do have a strange thing going on with DS not nursing on
one side but it's not at all a deterrent to bf'ing. I think bf is far
easier than I imagine ff to be. At playgroup last week I saw a big
special drying rack specifically for bottles, nipples, and such, totally
filled, thought about having had to wash all that, and shuddered. To
each their own, I suppose.

No. Me too. That's THE reason why I did it for so long (19 months). I'm lazy
by nature, and quickly saw that breastfeeding was much easier, less
labour-intensive than making formula, sterilizing bottles, etc.
Though we got off to a rocky start because my daughter had heart surgery at
birth, delaying all feed by mouth for a week and requiring measured feeds
for a further week, non co-operative hospital staff, and me being a first
time mother, she actually had no trouble breastfeeding, and took to it
immediately. She never had any problems with latch, nipple confusion, or
breast preference. I never had sore/cracked nipples, no thrush. Once had a
blocked milk duct for a day (ouwwwww). I nursed her thru my return to full
time work (part time breastfeeding), thru another surgery/hospitalization at
age 1 yr.
It was easy easy easy for us.

Nah, I had a very easy time with #1 -- no pain, never had mastitis or even a
plugged duct, and despite having FF cups, never had problems nursing in
public, etc. #2 is 10 weeks old, and while it was a little more painful
initially, she's a terrific nurser and I haven't had anything I could call a
problem yet. However, if I'd had different experiences, I like to think I'd
have stuck with it anyway -- unless I die or have to undergo an emergency
double mastectomy, my babies are getting breastmilk!

Breastfeeding never starts out easy for me. Ever. And I've breastfeeding
almost non-stop for 6 years now. I don't know why. I don't know what I
could do to make it easier, but that's just the way it is, and I
expect/accept it now.

For me, the first 2 weeks were unspeakably horrible, the
next 2 weeks were miserable, and the 3rd 2 weeks were just
bad. The 6 months since then were easy. So yeah, for the
most part, it's been easy. It's just that the awful parts
came at the beginning.

It was hellish for me for the first 2.5 months but ever since then it's been
a breeze, except for mastitis a couple of weeks ago but it wasn't nearly as
bad as the first time around. I know quite a few people who have had a lot
of problems but it is usually just in the first month or two and things tend
to get easier after that.

I have not had any problems at all with breastfeeding. I have a hard time
with extended breastfeeding (personally) but not because of any physical
thing. There are things about breastfeeding that I sometimes find
inconvenient but I clearly think the benifits out weigh all that or I
wouldn't do it :-)

Exactly! My coworker asked me if I was still breastfeeding
and how long I was going to do it and I said yes and at least
one year. She said, well, I couldn't, I'm lazy. I said,
no... I'm LAZIER! For night feedings, I go to the crib,
latch on, switch, 10 minutes later, all done, crawl back
into bed. Nothing to heat up, nothing to check temperature,
nothing to wash, NOTHING! This is surely the laziest
possible way to feed a baby! (Especially now that we've
started solids and I have to wash the bowls and spoons
afterwards!)
