Guiltless, Justified Spanking.
Generally speaking, the ability to intentionally inflict pain upon others in
the absence of anger or remorse, is regarded as pathological behavior. Yet, we hear proponents of spanking children advising parents that these acts of physical aggression toward their children should not be inflicted in association with feelings of anger. If children are to be defined as a part of humanity, such advice is sociopathic (or sadistic) in nature. The Sociopath strikes without anger, and leaves the scene without guilt or remorse. The Sadist will also strike without anger, but will do so in the name of love or simple gratification as a means of justification. Society tends to define these pathological behaviors as they generally relate to adult-to-adult behavior. It would appear that because children are held to a lower standard of treatment, people who subject individuals under the age of 18 in a manner consistent with sociopathic, or sadistic behavior, are excluded from being characterized as such. It’s indeed ironic that children would be excluded as the victims of psychopathy because children represent the type of victims who reflect one of the basic components that define both sociopathic and sadistic behavior...... the targeting a helpless victim who presents no perceived threat of retribution. And so it is that we can publicly witness indignant, wholly justified, acts of violence toward children being inflicted in the absence of anger or guilt.. ....the same behavior that is consistent with Sociopathy or sadistic definitions of ‘loving behavior’ as it applies to adults. The cold-blooded violence of the ‘executioner mentality’ enacted against children is not repugnant behavior in the eyes of the general public until such time as an adult becomes the victim.....when this behavior then becomes immediately identified as ‘sick’, or ‘perverse’. Evidence of the double-standard to which we hold children can be realized by placing a wife in the position of a child under the same circumstances. A husband who physically punishes his wife without anger or remorse for the purpose of controlling her behavior, while claiming that his acts of physical aggression are merely an expression of his love and deep caring, would be a husband who would be most certainly viewed as a pathological individual by societal standards. The husband’s behavior in this case, would represent the cold, dead heart of the remorseless Sociopath, or the lust for inflicting pain that fills the heart of the ‘loving’ Sadist. It simply does not matter *why* an individual loses their humanity, whether it be for religious or psychological reasons, the dispassionate infliction of punitive pain upon another human-being in the absence of remorse is pathological by any standardized definition of normal human behavior. -- James C.
