Default Braxton Hicks

Hiya All

Just a quick question, at 33 weeks should I be worried about the fact I
don't seem to have experienced any Braxton Hicks?

I'm 35, and this is our first child, and while I don't know what they feel
like, I'm pretty sure I haven't had any.

Just wondering...

Default Braxton Hicks

Hi Lee, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It is common to both have them,
and to not have them. They do assist in preparing the uterus for the real
thing, but they aren't needed for a normal productive birth. As for what
they feel like, the only thing I can compare them to is a feeling almost
like the baby is pushing in all directions at once, like there is a lot of
pressure on the lower pelvis. I had them quite strong when I was about
24-28 weeks pregnant and at first thought it was the baby pushing on me.
Then they dropped off almost completely, and now at 36 weeks they are back
again. They may yet kick in for you too, or like you said, since you don't
know what they feel like, you may just not be recognizing them. Either way,
it's not something to worry about. : )

I didn't have any with dd #1 and she arrived without any inductions etc.
about on time. I haven't had any this time round either, although I'm only
on week 26. Mum said she didn't have any for all 3 of hers.
You'll know labour when it comes!!
