For the record, I said that doctors typically prescribe
medications as opposed to recommending non-prescription
alternatives (ie., weight loss products as per the original
discussion, the context of which you and other Pharma Bloggers
have studiously ignored.)

Eh? Most docs would tell you to eat less junk and exercise to lose
weight, not prescribe a pill.

That was pfoggey's example, not mine. All *I* said was that doctors
typically write prescriptions and do not concern themselves with
non-prescription supplements. If you would read who said what, you
would understand.

So what? Most doctors do not share your nonsense delusion that "natural
medicine" is a useful general healthcare system.

What is a "general healthcare system?" This sloppy **** of yours is
very typical of average Pharma Bloggers, but I've come to expect more
from you. If you mean crisis care, I have already stated that
mainstream medicine excels in the arena of emergency treatment. And
even there (as YOU yourself pointed out), nutritional medicine is often
used for the benefits of patients, but now you want to double back on
that acknowledgement and suggest that natural medicine (nutrients,
primarily) are useless? Is the use of magnesium in heart attack
patients, n-acetyl cystein for those with acetomenophen poisoining, or
iron prescribed for anemic patients, happening without doctors
knowledge? Nobody is talking about the overthrow of the ER, what I'm
talking about is expanding the use of nutrients beyond what is already
happening. I still want to see people getting their stomachs pumped,
wounds sutured, bullets removed, shock stabilized, and blood flow
arrested. I mean, what's life without a little fun?

Yes, and I want to see you get a root canal with natural supplements.
A little fun.

What's fun is ignoring anyone who says you need a root canal. But if
you just have to have one, a regular painkiller to address temporary
discomfort is certaintly appropriate. The problem with modern medicine
is not that it doesn't control symptoms (as opposed to healing), the
problem is that it ends up controlling patients (ie., long-term drug
dependency.)

Have you had problems with anti-psychotic drugs?

True, but many docs do it on their own time.
