Default Mom on her way....

Well I figured it was time for an update from me!
My Mom is in the air as I type this on her way across country. I haven't
seen her in almost a year! Hard to believe it has been so long but with
phone calls, pics and emails we definitely stay in touch. She'll be with us
for almost a month and hopefully we don't kill each other g Although she
and I do not have a lovely dovey relationship having her here to help with
the kids will be wonderful. This will be the longest my DH and Mom have
ever spent together so I am sure it will be interesting LOL

As for me, well it looks like we'll have a baby sooner than later. When I
went in for my NST on Friday my BP was *way* to high for anyone's comfort.
(for those that don't know I go 2x week due to PIH) Thankfully two of my
MWs happen to be in hospital with another client and were a buffer between
the attending OB and myself. With much discussion I went home with the
promise that I would take it easy and come back to l&d in the morning for
another BP check. So I rested, had some cream of tartar w/ lemon (thanks
Larry!) which BTW is horrid, and unfortunately they were still up there
After talking things over with the attending and my MW I agreed to some
medication (Labetalol). All I have to say is that thank goodness for the
net! The only side effect I was warned about was dry mouth, bah! I could
tell *exactly* when it kicked in due to my hands shaking and my scalp
tingling like mad! After some online research I discovered that amongst
other things Labetalol gives one tingly scalp for the first while and I tell
you it could drive you batty, it tingles you scratch, tingles more! Other
than being more tired it seems to be working. I had another NST yesterday
and my BP was the lowest ever at the hospital (114/75), yeah!

So.....this week has been discussing when I should have this babe. Both the
OB and the MW group are worried about my symptoms getting worse, as am I.
With being 37 weeks tomorrow the thought is that things would be safer out
than in. In no way am I induction happy but I am starting to get concerned.
Also since all of these NST have shown the docs I bh-moderate contrax every
three to four minutes for the past 3 weeks, (what like I was lying?) they
deem me 'favorable'. I want to start coaxing things along as unmediated as
possible so I should be getting my membranes swept tomorrow by my MWs. I
know the success rate it not very high but considering if I do so much as
walk around they already get much worse I am *hoping* we won't have to
resort to a full on induction. DH got quite a shock at the OB appointment
yesterday when she prescribed sex, sex and more sex g One bonus of this
all is that I can go for a walk soon too!

Any tips from you ladies on getting things going? Does Clary Sage help?
How about acupressure points? Anything else? I'd really rather avoid castor
oil though :-\

It won't do anything to get things going, but taking Evening Primrose Oil both
vaginally and by mouth is supposed to soften things up and help dilation. You
need to find an expert to tell you more, but black and blue cohosh are also
supposed to be helpful.

You will appreciate it. Because she WILL be lovier dovier with the kids, and
that's what counts. No matter how my mom still annoys me...........she loves
that baby. You can't fault anyone for loving your child! It makes it easier
to tolerate them.
