Default What are the chances for cycle changes?

Ok, here goes. I'm starting to actually get a bit crazy over this, trying
to figure it out.
Lately, my brain has been on vacation, so that's why I think I'm having some
issues here. I can't remember when my last cycle started.
I do remember taking DS to go play with his brother one afternoon. That was
March 19. I know N and I took the girls to Walmart after dropping DS off.
We got DD1 and ourselves some lunch at the McDonald's in there, and I know I
picked up a big double pack of pads that were on sale. I know that at the
time, I was needing them. Now, as far as when it started or ended, I can't
say. Worst case scenario would have been started cycle on March 19. My
cycles have always been the standard 28 days.
From what I remember, my period just stopped right around Dec 31-Jan 1. I
remember this because it is when I finally filled my perscription for
Micronor, and the pharmacy was not open Jan 1 (which was a Monday) so I went
Tuesday and started taking it on Tuesday the 2nd, possibly Wednesday the 3d.
This was a few days after my period had stopped. I know it was not here
during Christmas or Christmas Eve. I find I always have my period for 5
days, and before and after pregnancies, they have always gone right back to
a normal 28 day cycle, and that's after a total of 4 babies, the oldest
being 7 the youngest is now 7 months.

So, if I started March 18-20, that would have made April be around April
14-16. May 12-14. That was Mother's Day weekend, wasn't it? I know for a
fact that I didn't get a period on that weekend - I worked a soccer
tournament concession on Saturday evening and also went for the afternoon to
my grandma's on that Sunday. I had no period that weekend at all, and when
I really think about it (as I've been making my brain turn more into mush
over this) my cousin's birthday was April 24. I didn't have my period at
that event either, nor do I remember ever being on my period when DS has had
a soccer game, which are every Monday and Wednesday evening and started Wed
April 25. I have not had a period this month at all for sure.
To be honest, I can't exactly remember when I did have one, I can only
pinpoint days I know I didn't have one.
Oh, and if it matters, DD2 is still only bf (no formula or even any bottles
of anything - strictly breast fed) I stopped the Micronor when the
perscription i had filled ran out, which would have been very beginning of
Feb. I have another 2 months sitting, filled, at the pharmacy, just haven't
had the money this time or time that time when I should have picked it up.
If this is TMI, N always pulls out long before he's "finishing up", not that
this would really make a difference, I don't think.

I'm kind of going crazy. Is there a chance for cycles to get messed up, yet
still be happening? I know the simple answer is "go take a HPT" but for
that, I'm actually terrified of doing, and I really don't care to drag all
the kids out to go to the store for one. With these random dates that I'm
only quite certain of (although not 100% sure of) should I be alright or
should I be worrying for a good reason? Could my cycles change out of
nowhere and just come and go as they please?
I really haven't had any more or less stress, sleep or diet changes the last
little while. As far as all that goes, it's all been about the same for
longer than I can remember. I haven't had any type of major meltdown (as I
did a few months ago, yet cycles were still fine) in quite a while, and
really, nothing has really changed.

So... Should I wait a few more days or a week or so and see? Or should I be
going out to get a HPT real soon before I totally lose my mind? LOL

No telling. Could be the breastfeeding. Could be the
Micronor messed things up. Could be you just forgot some dates.
Could be you're pregnant (withdrawal at any stage simply isn't a
particularly effective form of bc). Whether you wait and see or
got get a test is really a function of how crazy you're going to
go over the next few days/weeks of not knowing ;-)

Best wishes,
Ericka

Here's to hoping it is DD2's nursing and/or the Micronor having a good ol'
time with me and my head. DD2 is just finishing her soup she's supposed to
be eating for lunch, then I'm going to pack the kids up.
A friend spent about 20 mins laughing at me, saying how she'd die laughing
if I *ever* got a pos HPT, so I'm just going to go and do it and then have a
piece of mind rather than everyone wondering what's wrong with me over the
next week or whatever.
Still thinking and hoping either the bfing or change of meds has done
something normal!

I would say exactly the same thing.

Is there no way to get free contraception, like going to a designated family
planning clinic?

Contraception is free in the UK, I guess the logic is that contraception
costs the state a lot less than children.

A child will cost more than contraception will you need to figure out a
method you can afford and budget for it, or the chances are, you will
eventually get pregnant.

Cheers

Not really, that I know of. I know we have a few places that are like a
family planning clinic. They offer some basic services - like free support,
information, pregnancy tests. They do offer condoms, but those I would
rather go without if given the choice. I find I have gotten some major
problems with them in the past, and it's just not worth it. I'd rather even
go without the sex if it means condoms each time. They also only will offer
a small amount at a time (a small handful, MAYBE 3 or 4 - not worth it for
me to drive half way across the city for these "free" services) I also went
there for a free HPT with DD1. Quite frankly, it's not any of their
business on if I'm married or not, nor is it any of their business to push
pro-life down my throat. I believe that is MY decision to make for myself,
not for me to make for others or others to make for me. All these places
claim to be non-judgemental. I beg to differ with my handful of experiences
with these places (somewhat recent and in the past)
As far as a perscription goes (any type of pill, shot, IUD, whatever) those
are your problem to cover. If you have health insurance, then that will
cover X % of it, normally, depending on what you have for coverage. Right
now, I have the coverage for the kids only, as it's free and covered by the
CAN gov't.

Contraception is free in the UK, I guess the logic is that contraception
costs the state a lot less than children.

AFAIK, it's not here if it's a perscription. I might, actually, make a few
calls around to see if there's something that is hidden or something that
will offer it for free.

A child will cost more than contraception will you need to figure out a
method you can afford and budget for it, or the chances are, you will

It's not so much the cost for me - it's not too bad, works out to be less
than $20 a month (it's about $15 for 1 month supply, but that includes the
pharmacy fee, which is about $5ish per visit.) I normally aim for 2 months
at a time, then I only have to pay the pharmacy once and it's about $25 for
2 months, rather than $15/month.
As far as more goes, it's NOT the money or cost or finances... It's more my
own sanity at this point LOL

Oh, and HPT says "Dance for joy!" - so very, very negative!!!

Cheers

Anne

I'm glad it was negative!

In terms of making your birth control pills even more affordable and more
convenient, can you get them through a mail order prescription company?
Here it used to be Express Scripts, and then it's recently changed to
Walgreens Mail Service Prescriptions. The major benefit of a mail order
prescription service is that they fill 3 months at a time, rather than just
one. BUT, you only pay one co-pay. Now, that's not a huge deal, but it
will save you $60 per year. Secondly, it's more convenient to get 3 months
at a time, since you need to get refills less often, and thirdly, it's also
more convenient to refill, as you can do it over the phone or on your
computer, and the meds arrive at your door about a week later. Easy Peasy!
No schlepping the kids in and out of the car and store, and waiting for them
to refill it.

I don't know if you can use a mail order prescription service without
insurance, or if it is an insurance perk. Something to look into, though.

the contraceptive pill is one of the few things in the UK that you can get a
6mth supply of, ask about that, it would at least save the pharmacy fee.
Plus, investigate online pharmacies for the cheapest price, iirc the
cheapest mini pill comes in at about 4 CAN dollars for a month, plus once
you've faxed in the initial prescription, which your doctors office might be
able to do for you, it would be a lot more convenient.

Cheers

Anne
