Any moms out there who can spare Enfamil Lipil, diapers, or baby wipes for a mom-in-need?
Do you have any diapers, Enfamil Lipil formula, baby wipes, or baby
boy clothing that you no longer need? I had an unexpected rapid-growing ovarian tumor and three surgeries and have had lots of medical problems within the last year which caused severe financial difficulties. We do not qualify for WIC (we have to be 100-185% below poverty in our state), I have to formula- feed for medical reasons, and I do not have family to help me. Money is extremely tight right now, I am giving birth to a baby boy in November, and we can use all the help we can get. We still need many items for our little one. I would be more than happy to send you some coupons or other items that I have today. Please let me know at . Thank you with all of my heart. 3 P.S. I have joined freecycle.org and craigslist.org but there are many wanted items for similar things in our area. If you can sincerely help, please e-mail me. Thank you 3 |

Thank you 3 I doubt you'll get any sort of real response online like this because people don't know if what you are saying is true. You should take your story to your local media, church, outreach groups, etc. They can feature your story, after confirming it, and you would be surprised at how many people would be willing to help you out. By personal experience, the last time I mailed a can of powdered formula to someone, it cost me $5.00 just to ship it, and you don't even know what sort of formula will be the one for your child since some kids go through many different brands before finding one that suits their digestive systems. Garage sales will be a great source of locating items as well, but you'll have to get there early since baby stuff goes quickly. What city or state do you live in? There are many ways to save money with a new baby as well that merely increase laundry, such as cloth diapers and not using baby wipes but either making your own or using toilet paper to get off the bulk of the mess and then washing with a white wash cloth that can be laundered with bleach. Your local hospital, if able, might be able to donate formula to you since they know your story so well. Heck, even Enfamil might be willing to help you out if you write them, but like I said, you need to make sure it is the right formula for your baby - he could wind up on Isomil Soy or something else. Congratulations on your new baby boy, and sorry your pregnancy has been enshrouded with such scary health complications. Good luck. |

Even unopened containers could be left over from recalled batches. Craigslist is a great resource for baby items that are either sanitizable by wiping down with strong cleaning agents (non-porous surfaces), or are launderable. Used cloth diapers are not recommended, but you can bleach them and be sure to never leave them damp in the washer for any period of time because they can propagate e.coli even after bleaching. Don't use them for burp cloths. A suggestion: You can also trade things on Craigslist. You could trade services such as babysitting, sewing, etc. for baby items. If you have items such as clothing, jewelry, furnishings or electroncs you no longer use, try selling them there. Instead of trying to buy formula second-hand for the baby, get food for yourself. In the "free stuff" section, there are often canned food and pantry items. And not just beans either. Then use the money you save for new baby formula. Also, if you are friends with anyone who has a membership to Costco or other discount store, ask them to take you there to buy things like diapers, baby wipes, and formula. |

Any moms out there who can spare Enfamil Lipil, diapers, or baby wipes for a mom-in-need?
As far as formula, contact your pediatrician, especially if the office is
breastfeeding friendly. I know that when my EBM output looked like it might not meet my DD's needs before she could go to cow's milk, my ped just gave me a can from their supply, and told me to stop by if I needed more-that they get enough from formula companies that they can easily accommodate their patients who need it. |

How could anybody be more than 100% below poverty? 185% below? What state are you in and what are the actual guidelines? WIC is not just for welfare recipients is it? I have known MIDDLE CLASS people who got WIC. Shamrocklove, Did you APPLY for WIC or decide not to? Did you explain your hardships? |

I think she meant the income cutoff for WIC is 185% of the federally determined poverty level. http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/howtoapp...guidelines.htm Clisby What state are you in and what are the actual guidelines?
