Variations of these things have been around for a while. They've been
used by government spooks and snooping employers. One well-known name
is Keylogger. It maintains a 290kb file size on the computer.
Keystroke Capture is another. This one will actually e-mail you the
data. There is also anti-keylogging software to thwart spyware
keystroke logging. Keycatcher plugs into the keyboard back of the PC
and avoids software altogether.

Besides monitoring kids, some of things can be handy if your computer
suddenly bites the dust in the middle of an important project.

Hardware keyloggers are a good option as long as the kids don't know
what to look for and unplug.

You can choose a security keyboard with the keylogger hidden inside so
this is not a problem.

You will need to know what kind of keyboard is attached to the
computer. If it is a small round plug you need a ps/2 device, if it is
a small rectangular plug, you need to choose a USB Keylogger.

KeyGhost also has both versions at http://www.keyghost.com/
