Ping Toto. Games for children.
Dorothy,
I tried some of your calming technique games with my boys. The eldest was very impressed thankyou. In fact he asked if I had any more games and where I learnt them from. They started of a little cold, I think they were suprised to see an adult being silly. But after a few minutes we were running around having a great time, being ludicrous. Does anyone in the group have some suggestions? Cheers Dom. |

Does anyone in the group have some suggestions? i would suggest The Out-of-Sync Child Has Fun by Carol Kranowitz. it's written for parents of kids with sensory integration dysfunction, but the games & activities are fun for any kid. as your boys get older, you might want to look for a copy of The Dangerous Book for Boys (and thank diety that you don't have girls because the girly version is horribly sexist) or BoyCraft. i don't have the authors offhand as my 7 year old has those books off somewhere right now. oh! and Why Would I Want The Toy, When I Can Have The Box? by Rex Bowlby is also pretty good. lee -- Last night while sitting in my chair I pinged a host that wasn't there It wasn't there again today The host resolved to NSA. |

Does anyone in the group have some suggestions? Cheers Dom. Just saw this post. Sorry so late. I will be offline starting on Thursday as we are attending a wedding in Chicago. I won't be back until the following Monday. The breathing games come from Dr. Becky Bailey. Her website is he http://www.beckybailey.com/ Her I Love You Rituals is especially fun. There are some nice books on her website that address different problems. There is a book called Follow Me Too by Marianne Torbert and Lynne B. Schneider that is available from NAEYC. It's intended for 3 to 5 year olds in a preschool setting, but can be adapted to any group setting. The nice thing about the book is that it has a chart that tells what skills the game is working on. There are lots of games for all kinds of purposes that are fun, but many need more than one player. http://sales.naeyc.org/frmSearch.aspx There are calming games from Girl Scouts in a pdf file he http://www.girlscoutsmilehi.org/cont...lmingGames.pdf Have fun. Let me know what things you are looking for and I can give you more suggestions -- Dorothy There is no sound, no cry in all the world that can be heard unless someone listens .. The Outer Limits |
