June due dates, how are you holding up?

ncrist schrieb: Hi :-) Would have replied sooner, but yesterday I had to hold the cable constantly while doing anything, and it got so wearysome that I just turned the darn thing off. I'm using a different comp today. Which isn't much better. I had to save my answer on the editor so I wouldn`t have to remember everything, because it disconnected itself in some strange way from the internet. Real pain! Oh, that sounds sooooo cumbersome. So you think it's the cable that's broken or something else? If it's just he cable you'll probably be able to pick one up for a couple of euros... I don't mind having to get up all night because I've been doing that the whole nine months, anyway. However, I do confess to immensely enjoying the few times I actually slept most of the night. I did have some eventful nights, like the night I fell asleep on the toilet and woke up not being able to move because both legs and the left arm had fallen asleep. I had to yell for my husband to come and help me up. fun. Oh boy... For me, by the time I reach the bathroom I'm usually awake and then I can't go back to sleep for ages. So I usually end up sitting in front of the computer reading my newsgroups and surfing blogs and *cough* ebay *cough*. Honestly, are people crazy? Cloth diapers. Used cloth diapers. Where the owner says "Oh, the Velcro might need to be replaced..." (which would be a royal pain in the butt to do) go for nearly as much as the new ones! I just ordered some flannel and Velcro and fleece and I'll see about sewing my own. I have three fitted cloth diapers right here and all they are is a shaped piece of fabric with elastic on the legs and Velcro for closing them and there's a large strip of fabric sewn to the front you just fold into the diaper. I can do that myself and not pay 200 Euros for 20 diapers and 20 inserts and 5 wraps! It's not that I think 200Euros is really expensive, but I just can't afford that lump of money all in one go. My legs are not getting too much better, and now I have tingling in my hands. I took my wedding ring off the day before yesterday. I don`t really look bigger, but it is disconcerting how the indents don't disappear. I'm thinking about drinking that pregnancy tea again that was recommended to me. It's not really bad, but it did help my heartburn get worse (which is why I'm not so gung-ho about the whole thing). What kind of tea is that? I only know nursing tea and the strawberry (??) leaf tea that's supposed to be good for getting ready for birth. I think I had some of that strawberry leaf stuff and found it to taste really disgusting, and I _like_ tea... I just bought him an activity book with dinosaurs, and have been doing the activities without using the pencils at night before bed. Now he really wants to color and draw the lines through the mazes, so he might be too busy to watch tv today (at least I hope so). *g* that's a cool idea. We sometimes buy childrens magazines, like "Benjamin Bluemchen" or "Bussy Baer" there's stories and games and stuff. Now if only they'd leave of those stupid toys I'd be happy... have my CTG today at 2 pm, looking forward to that. Even wrote down some of my complaints so that I would actually talk about them while there, instead of my usual, "oh, everythings fine, considering." Yeah, I know what you mean. That's why I like having my midwife come here. She takes her time and we chat and I remember a lot more that she "needs to know" than I ever did in the 5 seconds my gyn would see me. No CTG's for me and no more ultrasounds either yay (that is if there's no complications). I'm so glad I'll be considered full-term after this week. Maybe then I can encourage the bh contractions I've sometimes had while walking. Walking also helps bring the swelling down. YES! I'm exactly 33+0 today. So I'm 34 weeks, so I have another 4-6 weeks to go. OMG... I think I need to get cracking on the sewing cloth diapers... I have some old sheets and stuff I can cut up to practice, better do that today.... New things my body does: Heartburn again in the middle of the night. Morning sickness! YAY I'm so glad it's back... NOT. Madam's just pushing up and out and everywhere so hard there's no more room for food. So I wake up feeling sick because I'm really "too hungry" already and then when I eat I feel sick because there's nowhere for the food to actually go because her butt is in the way. So I'm sleeping with the bucket next to the bed again.... Fun times... cu nicole Had my CTG yesterday. Went ok, but now she gave me iron pills. I can't stand it. I almost get through without them, and then "bam!". Which makes me want to cut back on hamburgers, linsen, and other high-iron things. I don't like all the side-effects she listed off, either. I am certain my backside can't take hard, black waste by-products (sorry, I just don't feel like being too matter-of-fact about these things right now. I mean, I have to put half of me back in after you-know-whatting and it'd be easier to call a spade a spade if I didn't have to do it so often). I am thinking of calling her and just promising to eat double whoppers with extra tomato and lots of chinese beef chop-suey, because that at least tastes better, and I don't have to remember to NOT eat something. I am so sorry you have morning sickness! That's so rough. Remember to keep some salted crackers by your bed to chew on before you get up. That might help. That or popcorn (the air-popped variety might be better). I intend to use pampers (or similar) like I did on Cody, because I just can't get my head around washing the diapers, too. And we had very few catastrophes last time, unless you count the bag with the faulty tabs (most of the diapers came off while he was toddling about - it was really not fun. They came from Lidl, I think). The pregnancy tea I was referring to is something my one of my husband's work colleagues suggested. It contains Frauenmantel (Lady's mantle), Himbeerblätter (raspberry leaves), Johanniskraut (St. John's Wort), Melisse (I think this is called "balm"), Brennessel (Nettle), Zinnkraut (horsetail?), and Schafgarbe (yarrow). DH went to the drug store and had them make it up for me. Wierd stuff, but it tasted like normal tea, so I didn't get too worked up about it. Still, I like things more when I understand them. It all seemed a little to eccentric for me. Plus the lady said it was only good against water retention up to a point. It did help, though. Maybe I should give it another chance. I had major water in my legs before I started drinking it. I got some of those magazines for Cody. I think the toys are a plus, sometimes. But then I skip the real dumb ones. |

Never had too much problems with side effects of iron tablets, even when taking 4 a day. If you've only been given 1 a day then you probably can get away with being careful what you eat. If you're on more then you may not want to risk it. Even this time when I wasn't that low I felt so much better after even a few days of iron tablets, so yu may want to try them with the thought if you get side effects then you'll stop. Debbie |

I'm not totally sure, but I think it's normal for iron levels to drop somewhat during the last weeks of pregnancy.. I know I hate iron tablets because they usually make me nauseous and some give me stomach cramps.. Real fun :-/ Personally I'd not bother about calling the doc and just either taking them sparingly or not at all. Being tired is just part of being pregnant and not being able to sleep so well because we have this kid _right there_. I used disposables with Sam (I tried cloth but I had the kind that you wrap and I hated washing and drying them because of those stupid long strings). Now I want something like the Poppolino or Lotties kind, only not for 20 Euros a piece! I also had a couple of bad bags when Sam was little. I usually bought them at dm but after exchanging a pack _3_ times because they smelled of chemicals I stopped buying them. And this time I'd just like to try using as little disposables as possible. The pregnancy tea I was referring to is something my one of my husband's work colleagues suggested. snip It all seemed a little to eccentric for me. Well, if it helps and doesn't bother you keep drinking it ;-) I don't have water retention problems right now, thanks to the crappy weather, but for me cucumbers and drinking lots of water really helped a lot, too. I got some of those magazines for Cody. I think the toys are a plus, sometimes. But then I skip the real dumb ones. Yes, I try to skip them, too. And then Oma comes to visit *lol*. Sam had his last day of school today and I'm planning to hit the city with him next week and maybe look at some books that have puzzles and stuff in them that we'll both enjoy. 6 weeks of summer holidays. Whoever came up with that didn't have children ;-) cu nicole |

June due dates, how are you holding up?

"ncrist" wrote in message oups.com... I know a bit how you feel about TV. I feel somewhat guilty about Cody watching so much tv, but I am just not up to playing with him. He always wants me to play cars or trains with him, but I just can get down on the floor for that long, anymore. It is definitely not comfortable Luckily, he is at the Kindergarten most of the day. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have that. And I do try to have him watch more educational TV. I just bought him an activity book with dinosaurs, and have been doing the activities without using the pencils at night before bed. Now he really wants to color and draw the lines through the mazes, so he might be too busy to watch tv today (at least I hope so). Can you play some variation of cars or trains with him up at the table or counter, so that you can sit or stand, and he can be on a chair or barstool? -- Jamie Earth Angels: Taylor Marlys -- 01/03/03 Addison Grace -- 09/30/04 Check out the family! --www.MyFamily.com, User ID: Clarkguest1, Password: Guest Become a member for free - go to Add Member to set up your own User ID and Password The table in the family room is fairly new and DH doesn't want it to be scratched. And it's also too small. The other one in the kitchen is rather big, will try that. But it`'s not an all-the-time option for someone whose legs are supposed to be up. Soon this whole thing will be over with, and my Mom will be here to be with him (she's kind of a tv junkie, too, but her stuff will be very boring to him). Besides, she`ll take him out to play. That'll be good for everyone. |
