Default Out of control appetite

ospam (laurie) wrote in message ...
This can't possibly still be from BF at 9 months, can it? My appetite is
seriously out of control. I eat everything in sight. I feel hungry a lot, but
I admit, I'm just eating because I want to a lot of the time. I think it has a
lot to do with stress, I've probably gained 10 lbs since I moved 3 months ago
(I'm afraid to step on the scale), and I already needed to loose a good 20-25
lbs! Problem is, of course, I'm eating junk. I feel out of control; I've
never wanted to eat like this! I've always enjoyed snacks and sweets, but not
like this. Help!

I've been feeling and doing the same for about 9 months now. I have
never been so overweight in my life. My baby is now 13 months old.
It's awful!! I know my eating is stress-related. In the past (though
I've never been this bad about eating before!), I have found that
getting back into regular exercise really helps. For one thing,
exercise is a stress reliever, but also, I am unlikely to eat a half a
bag of potato chips when I was out running earlier that day. They just
don't go together. Exercising makes me feel like a healthy person; not
exercising makes me feel like a slug, and why shouldn't a slug eat
whatever happens to be in front of it? I AM going to start running
again, IF we ever thaw out here. No, WHEN we thaw out. Do you exercise
regularly? Can you try to start, if not? (Even if just means getting
out for a 30-minute walk every day when your DH gets home. What a
treat that would be!)

Yeah, the exercising was feeling so good. And getting out of the house and
meeting other people was helping emmensly. It's been three weeks for the
ankle, but it is still swollen and hurting. I was really hoping it would
have healed more at this point.

Winter is just so hard. Hang in there. Four more months to spring ;o)

Welcome to winter Laurie. I have been the same way. I actually left the
house today just so that I would stop eating. I joined a jazzercise class
that I was looking forward to doing during this winter, but I sprained

my
ankle so I am pretty much home bound and it's driving me insane. Get out

of
the house if you can ;o)

IIRC, you have to cut out dairy, right Phoebe?

Dairy, wheat, oats, maybe shellfish (she had a possible reaction, and I
figure better safe than sorry), plus peanuts and treenuts (following the
AAP recommendation of better safe than sorry). I don't worry about soy
or egg, or cross-contamination.

If I could eat a cheese sandwich, a yogurt and a handful of almonds
every 2 hours during tax season, the way I did while I was pregnant, I
wouldn't have a weight loss issue.

She suggested nutritional supplement drinks
like Boost, but I haven't been to the store to check if there are any
dairy-free varieties.

I haven't seen any. It's easy to find dairy-free stuff, and it's easy
to find wheat-free stuff, but the combination of wheat and oats and
dairy is hard unless you want to do your own baking with alternative flours.

Jenn P, i did WW when jess was about 6 months old and I was starving! I

did
lose 5 lbs in a week though, and that was eating 40 pts a day (5 pts over

my
max)! I should look into it again though. thanks

Well, they have a new program called Flex Points. In addition to those 40
pts a day you get 35 pts a week to do *whatever* you like with them. You
can use them, not use them, use only half, spend it all on whatever you
wish. I have been doing this since Jan 1 and I've lost 10.4 lbs so far (if I
may brag Also, you get quite a few additional daily points for
exercising. For example, I just did 30 minutes on my elliptical machine and
earned *4* points. I'm going to do a 20 minute Pilates DVD and earn 1 or 2
(I forget). I'll also do a 15 min abs routine and earn another 1 point. I've
done WW soooo many times and so far, this is the program I like the best,
and have had the best early success on. You may want to check it out. Also,
if you find a meeting in your area, it may be a good way to meet some
people. HTH

I'm obviously up too late. I read this as "forty pints a day." I guess that'd
be a case for AA, not WW!

Thanks Jenn! I did check around and find a meeting, so I may try to attend.
Unfortunately it's at a bad time for me but I'm just going to have to go
anyway!
