We're Having Boy/Girl Twins
Hello!
We will be welcoming our twins to our family in February (knock wood). We have an almost 2 year old daughter too. I'm wondering how long you kept your boy/girl twins sharing the same room? I'm thinking two years from when they are born, my older daughter will move into the larger room with her little sister. Am I dreaming, or does this sound reasonable? Any other advice about boy/girl twins would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your comments! Megan Mommy to Julia, who will be 2 on Halloween and twins EDD 2/11/04 |

We're Having Boy/Girl Twins
How exciting! We have b/g twins who shared a room until recently; we split
them up at age 4. They were just so into the sibling rivalry thing that we figured they both needed a spot to get away from the other to cool off or take a break. So Emily moved into her own room (previously the nursery) and Edan shares his bedroom with his beloved 16 month old brother Matan. It's worked very well so far. If Matan wakes up at night, it doesn't disturb Edan, and vice versa. Good luck and keep everyone posted about the kids! Gretchen ~ SAHM to Emily and Edan (3.1.99) and Matan (6.13.02) |

Why would you split up the twins and put one with the older child? I would think your older daughter will be more interested in having her own space, and if you have two bedrooms, it would be better to keep the twins together, at least in principle. In practice, I think it depends on who has what sleeping habits, and that's completely unpredictable at this point. One of the three will probably need their own space, more than the other two, but it could be any of the three. David desJardins |

because one is a boy and one is a girl....at some point, they will have to
be split up.... Why would you split up the twins and put one with the older child? I would think your older daughter will be more interested in having her own space, and if you have two bedrooms, it would be better to keep the twins together, at least in principle. |

I really don't get it. My 3yo boy/girl twins generally sleep in separate rooms now, but we do hope to have them back in the same room in the future. (Not really due to lack of space, just because we think it would be more comfortable for everyone.) It never would have occurred to me that whether they are in the same room or different rooms has anything to do with their gender. David desJardins |
