I've been lucky enough to skip this, largely, but lately, I've been
having to use my asthma meds a lot. I think it's partly caused by
pregnancy, for me, but mostly caused by all the atrocious mold that has
set up shop in this city after all of the flooding. It's terrible! The
only other place I can ever remember having this problem in is
Nashville, and actually Tennessee in general (no offense to anyone
living there - the place was actually very beautiful otherwise). We
went there for a vacation one time, and I thought I was going to die.
;-) I totally loved the vacation and would repeat it (but next time
with more asthma meds on hand), but I couldn't stand to go shopping
because I swear, every single building was moldy. Even Elvis' house had
a bit of a problem. ;-)

Memphis (and Elvis's house is in Memphis) has been really wet this year,
which means mega mold problems-and we tend to be on the humid, moldy side
anyway (I live there-which is why we have HEPA filters in the major rooms of
the house and I have one for my classroom at school, too). Several schools
have had to have whole sections shut off for mold abatement. So no
complaints here.

What's driving me crazy is that I teach music and movement-but at this
point, my lung capacity is absolutely shot-and that's something I worked for
years to develop. Arrgh. Probably just as well that I'm NOT teaching this
year!

We have HEPA filters going, too. Aren't they great? Noisy, though. I
just picked up a new one for the baby's room.

My lung capacity sucks right now, too. Pregnancy probably isn't
helping, but I know the real culprit: repeated cases of pneumonia and
of course my asthma. I'm hoping to reverse all that now that I've
stopped the advair (I stopped it at the beginning of pregnancy) and now
that I seem to finally be able to stop getting lung infections (I
believe the advair made me more susceptible, even though the
manufacturer claims that the steroid in the drug doesn't affect the
immune system). I kept getting resistant lung infections, and I tell
ya, that was the *last* thing I wanted while pregnant. Ever since
ditching the advair, I've actually had no illness at all, other than
regular pregnancy stuff!
