Default 2 month (10 wk) baby update

Hi all,

Baby Rosie was born on January 4th, and was 8 lbs 12 ozs. We just came
back from her two month immunization. She's actually exactly 10 weeks
old. She measures now at 23 inches, and 13 lbs 3 ozs! Weight wise,
she's somewhere just past the 95th percentile.
The only thing that would make me happier is if she slept through
the night. She actually did once a couple weeks ago, but it never
happened again. She still wakes up at least once if not twice a night.
Of course it could be me. I put her to bed in her crib in my room at
night, and as soon as I hear her start to toss her head and snuffle, I
get her before she even opens her eyes or starts to cry. Then I leave
her in my bed, and usually nurse her again before morning.
Well, she's healthy and happy, and what more could I ask for?

Congratulations on a healthy happy baby!

A little tidbit about sleeping through the night - medically 5 hours is
considered to be "through the night" and at 10 weeks if your little one is
sleeping that much, consider it a blessing! Breastfed babies *need* to wake
more often because breastmilk is more readily and easily absorbed so they
get hungry sooner.

Congratulations on your bonny girl!

Do let her decide whether she's really awake and hungry, let her get a bit
louder than snuffling -- though you'll find she probably is, at her age.

I have no idea how often DS2 BFed last night, but I know i was frequent, and
he is 9mo! :-(

I wouldn't go to her at every little sound. I wouldn't leave her to get
horribly upset either, but you are definitely doing her a disservice by
going at every little peep. Sometimes they just need to shift positions and
mumble a little bit. You will know if she needs to eat.

I'll have to move to another room for a couple nights, most likely. I'm
not even awake when I pick her up! Her big sibs didn't have any trouble
coming off night nursing, so she'll probably just need a bit of
ignoring to get through it.

I'm not suggesting that you don't feed her if she needs it. What I am
suggesting is that you don't go to her with every little sound. Give her a
chance to fall back asleep. Sometimes babies just make noises in their sleep
and if you wake her up all the time, then she will never learn to put
herself back to sleep.

I'm not sure she actually wakes up. I don't turn on a light, so I can't
tell if her eyes are
even open. She also doesn't ever fall asleep nursing, either for naps,
or at bedtime. It's possible that she's nursing in her sleep even.
