At what cost safe schools
I know many, many homeschoolers who do not spank. In fact, I've met
very few homeschoolers in my state that spank their children. I also know that in states where school paddling is legal, this is often a deciding factor in whether or not to homeschool. LaVonne wrote: I'm not so sure it's just a diatribe. People are fed up. Those that can move their kids to private schools. Homeschooling is growing! And the homeschoolers I know spank. |

At what cost safe schools
My girls are 23 and 27. I asked and received a copy of their school's
safe school plan every year. It was part of the enrollment process. More opinions? LaVonne Opinions wrote: If you have a child in public school, ask to see the school's "safe school plan" or equivalent. Be warned. You may be denied access. These comprehensive documents contain objectives, goals, and strategies for coping with various difficulties. By the time you wade through one of these sometimes bewildering maze of resource consumption activities, it becomes obvious why schools have problems getting 8 years of achievement into 12 years of compulsory schooling. There is an old Arab saying that the camel is a horse designed by a committee! The "safe school plan" usually fits that description. While you' re at it, ask how much the school or school district paid the consultant for his or her contribution. Absent bureaucratic jargon and public relations fluff, exactly what did this person do? Ask to see their recommendations. This is you tax money. Know where it is going. What you may discover is that far too many educational professionals have been educated beyond their cerebral capacities. wrote: I'm not so sure it's just a diatribe. People are fed up. Data Privacy was : At what cost safe schools
Greegor,
You are responding to a "safe schools" post. Greegor wrote: At least two public schools have had incidents where girls were lined up and given GYNOS at school, to "screen for sexual abuse". And where were these schools? And why were they screened for sexual abuse? Ever wonder what the payouts were on those law suits? Let us know. Were there lawsuits? Or is this your assumption? Why isn't there more public outcry that such public issues are kept quiet by secretive settlements and sealed records? Good grief, Greegor. Have you ever heard of data privacy? Do you think a young girl who may have been sexually abused wants this information publicized on the internet and in the news? Wouldn't it benefit the public good if such terrible wrongs were publicly exposed? And the settlements too? What terrible wrong are you talking about? The girls had "GYNOS" regarding an alleged sexual abuse incident? Whether the school behaved appropriately or not is not the issue. The issue is the life of these girls, and thank goodness for data privacy. LaVonne |
